Latest i heard... Those who applied for the VEP tag. They will mail it to you with instruction on self installation. That's something more interesting.

I want to install the rfid tng tag so not sure if that solved together with the VEP one.

VEP RFID will be tagged to your touch n go e wallet - so can use to pay toll also.

Suggest to save on RFID tng cos you have to get the vep RFID eventually

If you followed the regulation laid down by MY, yes, all foreign registered car need to have VEP. Check or no check is another matter.
Similarly, all SG car leaving SG, must have 3/4 petrol tank rule... all SG car followed strictly?

As usual, no on asking of the VEP at Jb customs. My fourth visit today after the reopening.
Wow, u went in so many times already. Lol. Btw I think I have the msian cash card, which I haven't used for more than 4 or 5 years. Would u know if it can be replaced at their custom? Or just throw it away n get a new one? Iirc, it should still have some value in it.

msian cash card means T&G card? If yes, high chance invalid. No replacement and if valid above RM100, only apply for refund online and they will transfer you via TT. You need to pay for TT admin fee and takes more than 6 months to get your refund, this is what i last heard.
There is no TNG top up facility at JB custom if drive in via woodlands.
Suggest you get a new TNG card, but almost all petrol kiosk in JB area are oos.
You can try Watson. Sign up with them and the Watson card is a TNG.

Sharing with you my recent, fuss-free, Apr 22, Apr 27, May 02 day-trips to JB 🚕 🚙 🚗

1. VEP
a) this is a requirement for all vehicles entering Malaysia (Singapore is very strict in enforcing this, and have had turn many vehicles without the VEP around back home.) JB side has the authority to check on the VEP status of your vehicle but generally it’s not checked. I’ve read reports of SG cars entering JB without being checked but was fined (I think, 200RM) when found out it’s without VEP while coming out back home. Just remember, VEP is a permit

2. RFID – it’s circuitry sticker you can
a) make an appointment (after receiving confirmation email from JPJ -- Malaysia’s LTA) with JB fitment center, to fix and pay 10RM for it or
b) buy it online for SGD$17.50 and fix it yourself at home at your convenience. I took this route.
c) activate the RFID in TnG app

3. Touch ‘n Go cards (physical cards)
This is for you to tab in at the CIQ to pay for the
a) road charges, currently at 20RM and
b) CIQ toll (2.37RM)
c) add the cards in TnG app to view balances (and for PAYDIRECT FUNCTION)
i) it’ll pay for toll from the e-wallet
ii) and only if e-wallet value is lower, will the deduction be made from the physical cards
Note: Old cards not used for more than 12 months become dormant, thus useless
3A. TnG e-wallet can also be used to pay some merchants when you run out of RM in cash, and can't pay with CC/DC because the bill is below 50RM

4. Auto roaming
Ensure you’ve this, and the APN settings is correct.
For me, with 2 free GB, TPG is very good and responsive

5. MySejahtera app -
i) This is the Malaysian-equivalent to our Tracetogether
You need data roaming to work this app
ii) Here is where you upload your vaxx certificates. For me, I uploaded the full 3 doses but only shows 1 dose given to me. So, I brought along a hard copy of my vaxx certificate which you can download in notarise.gov.sg

their VEP site is a joke. it won't let me register a vehicle with my old number (I retained this number for new car), as there is an existing tag for my old car with that same number. there is an option to deactivate the tag due to vehicle being sold/ transferred, but clicking that only produces an error message.

ended up emailing them and they say have to bring all docs down to their counter to manually deregister the old tag, only then can re-register again that number on my current car to get a new tag. luckily I peeled off the old tag from the windscreen of my car before I sold it, as I suspected deregistering it from my name would be a pain.

Talking about RFID tag
(Each TnG app can register up to 3 different vehicles)

When I changed cars, I

1) De-registered my 1st veh, by emailing TnG
2) Was asked in their reply to provide numbers of I/C, Passport and car no, etc
3) ... after 2 weeks, the 1st RFID was terminated.

4) Bought online via Lazada, a RFID tag priced SG$17.50 (compared to 10RM if I'd to make appt and go to JB to fit
5) Activated 2nd RFID tag, activation almost immediately even though there's supposed 24 hrs wait

What's the real use of the VEP RFID?

I have registered for VEP since years ago (and updated again recently), but they didn't let me make appointment in the portal. I printed out and put in car.

If I don't use RFID toll lane, is it still necessary to get VEP RFID? Is it compulsory?

I found sellers like this, this and this in Shopee. But, these are TNG, not VEP, right?
