I am looking to purchase the latest M2 MacBook air and researching which external monitor to pair with it.

My budget is below $1300. I am fine with either 27" or 32". This monitor will be used for work purpose so no gaming on it.

Appreciate any recommendation thanks

I would avoid getting a Dell. And I would recommend giving this article a read.

if u have 2.2k to burn for a display. by all means.. go ahead on on Apple Display lor.

talk cock. TS already state for work purpose. never said for design purpose and he has a budget to fit. what's your recommendation then ah MODERATOR?

The site is comparing a 7k monitor with a WHAT? less than 1k monitor? it's like you are comparing how lambo fare against a Honda? how does this make a fair comparison?

I didn't recommend a Apple Studio Display. I recommended against a Dell monitor and suggested OP to have a read at Bjango's article about pixel densities.

A quick google search will fetch you a few results discussing about these issues surrounding Dell's compatibility when paired with Macs equipped with the M series silicon. But of course like any tech product, your mileage may vary. However, if a reliable review site such as RTings have put up a disclaimer about Dell monitors. I would definitely err to the side of caution with my budget of 1.3k

Edit : Also to be fair, OP didn't specify what sort of work he would be dabbling in (eg. He didn't say it wasn't for design purposes :) )

some of the "results" you posted is probably because the user is not aware of the limitation of the USB TYPE C port and the old monitors that they were using.
M1 silicon by Apple only released in late Nov 2020. It's very normal to see compatibilities issues for mac especially u are dealing with USB TYPE C since there are lots of variation out there of the capability of the port.

Compatibility issues are already fixed in most of the latest release of DELL monitors which if you have realized i recommended U2722DE and not the D version which DE carries the VIDEO + DATA in the USB type c port. (if u reference back to the links you posted, its the user problem and not Dell problem)

In terms of support from Dell, Ultrasharp carries a perfect pixel panel warranty, onsite nbd 1 to 1 monitor exchange. Not so sure for gigabyte.

Having said that, I'm been trying out using Dell, Samsung, Prism+, Alienware monitors within a short span of 1yr. I can safely say, Dell reliability and support are still one of the best one out there.

Of course, do your homework and read through all the caveats and make your own evaluation rather than just do a "quick" google search without understanding the context of the problem.

TS you might want to read below:

Ive been using Dell MONITOR G3223Q with m1 Mac mini via dp <> USB C. Can reach 144hz 4k but quite buggy in terms of colour gamut if u want p3. Will have flickering.

But when I set 4k 120p P3 colour gamut, very stable. Just use a 8k 30p cable, I got a ugreen.

$850 when u ask for best price from online chat cso.

Dell U series or BenQ PD series are good.
Since you have USB-C port, it's probably better to go with displays that have USB-C.
Having Thunderbolt on a display is probably not needed and adds extra cost.
