You have a 14 day free look period.
Can you guess why the agent tells you to wait 14 days?

SO THAT THE FREE LOOK PERIOD WILL EXPIRE AND YOU WON'T BE ABLE TO CANCEL IT ANYMORE WITH MONEY BACK, AND HE WILL EAT HIS COMMISSIONS!

Go directly to the AIA customer service, don't bother with that agent anymore.

That's not true though. Free look starts after the policy holder has received the policy.

If the agent tricks you that way it could easily be fraud and be punishable under Singapore's laws.

I’m not too sure if this is the case, I’ll give him/her the benefit of doubt as it could possibly be that the agent is new and blur.

However, IF it is indeed the intent of the agent is to have TS’s free-look period expire in order to get he’s/her commissions, it is doing business in BAD FAITH!

TS, you can report the incident here for further investigation:

No wonder they can experience “firmer sales”.

Heck, If I was TS, I’ll also drag in the whole team and get some some straight answers from them. It’ll be better for the insurance industry if business is conducted professionally.

You are not Surrendering your policy. By surrendering, you do not get premium refund.
You are excercising 14 days free-look option, which entitles you to full premium refund.
14 days free look period count starts from the day you receive your policy document or when AIA notify u the count start, whichever earlier.
Use relevant forms if you can find.
If not, I would think writing a letter stating clearly your intention with signature matching that on AIA record should suffice.

If you are concerned about the 14 days free look count, may I suggest that you first email AIA general enquires stating your ID with your intention to excecise the free-look option so to lock-in your intention. U can follow up with hardcopy letter / form.

Ideally, u should go down personally to ensure they receive your instructions.
Alternatively, u can download business reply envelope from AIA website and mail in your letter.

Keep a copy of all the doc you send in.

For your consideration.

I'm not TS but had the agent going around my block trying to sell their ****.
Guess I was unlucky? Was pretty tired after having to to some stuff from NS on a saturday.
So wasn't thinking straight at that point of time. Was having early dinner before they came and ruined it.

Told the Agent that I'm still doing NS so am a NSF but still asked me to do sign even though NS pay is still **** even with their increment.

After he left. I gave it some proper thinking. Told him to come back saying that I wanted to cancel it even though payment has already gone through. Told me to wait for the during the grace period for whatever reason. Like if need to cancel what is there to wait?

That's why I needed advice quickly. If settling it at their Customer Service Center is better then I will do so.

What I need to know is do I have to wait for the letter that they are suppose to sent to arrive at my place first or can I just go straight and ignore waiting for that letter?

Does anyone know about integrated shield plans?

I'm asking because the premiums are really high as you get older, i don't get anything back if i stop the plans right? Any advice would be good. Thanks!

Perhaps you might wish to provide more details such as plan name and premiums you have paid so far?

U can actually contact their customer service if you feel the agent might be cheating you

If you downgrade your plan, you will get back the prorated premiums paid for the year depending on when the premium was paid.

You have to decide for yourself whether if you choose to downgrade your plan, you can live with the consequences if anything happens to you, like going to government hospital, downgrade of ward class, having to pay some coinsurance/deductible.

There are other threads around here discussing the various ISP and rider options.

Thanks for the reply.I was asking regarding AIA ISP. The premiums are going up quite heavy now and I heard it will keep going as you age which is totally understandable but I think its really quite high and thought of stopping it or at least downgrading it. Was wondering if this ISP had any surrender value.

we don’t know what your surrender value is so wouldn’t know the amount. But surrender value is what you get back.

can go google for those who buy over insurance. Should be ok, since need to go down to the insurance service centre to sign over so can meet the person

Can u elaborate more about the same as I've 2 endowment policies that will be expiring in 3 to 5 years time? If return is indeed higher in the secondary market, it will make sense for me to sell now.

tks.
how about other policy , example whole life? can sell?
