Besides the cashback on same month vs next month, I have AMEX TCB (1.5%). I get to save some offers on AMEX app ($5 off telco bills etc.) Not sure if the UOB folks have the same.

if you spend big enough of an amount 0.2% can be very material in absolute terms

so you guys prefer Amex True Cashback or Uob Absol? hmm torn between the 2 cos the Uob Absol gives 1.7% cashback but credits next mth...
Why not both? Amex for app offers from time to time, UOB Ab for 0.2% more. 1.7% is so low anyway, won’t earn any bank interest from getting it one month later.

UOB Amex annual fee easy to waive? Amex waived for me this year so I continue to use. Cos I cancelled my UOB when they did not wanna waive annual fee a few years back.

Original AMEX's foreign exchange rate is still lower compared to VISA even though the rebate is 1.5% only. I made 2 Japanese yen transactions and posted on same day 25/10/22, seen on 26/10/22.

The amount is 34930 yen.
AMEX post S$345.32, after rebate 1.5%, I pay $340.14. AMEX has 2.95% conversion fee.

StanChart SPREE post $353.45, after 3% rebate for online txns, I pay $342.85. SPREE has 3.5% conversion fee.

The exchange rate is lower for AMEX: 1 yen = S$0.00960277, before 2.95% conversion fee.
For VISA, 1 yen = S$0.0097766471, before 2.95% conversion fee.
