I withdrew at on 18 nov at Haneda airport 7-11 atm via youtrip.
Each transaction is limited to 100k yen + 5sgd youtrip fee.

This will reflect in yr youtrip app and the 5sgd will auto convert to yen.

Final AMT is 100,512 yen

Hi fellows, check with you, for YouTrip there’s a limit of ¥100K per ATM withdrawal txn on top of a daily SGD$5K limit??
So for example, assuming a rough exchange rate of $1-to-¥100, if I wanna
Qn1: withdraw say SGD$2000 (¥200K), I can do it within a day, but I’ll have to split it into 2 separate withdrawals at 2 separate ATMs, & kena the $5 charge twice?
Qn2: If I wanna withdraw SGD$10K (¥1M), I kinda have to find 10ATMs & do it over 2 days at least?

Used youtrip and withdrawal fee of sgd5 for a limit of 100k per transaction
Each transaction is limited to 100k yen + 5sgd youtrip fee.

The withdrawer limit is set by diff bank in Japan. I just back from my trip 13th December. So far i tested seems like only SevenBank ( all 711 has the ATM ) allow limit up 100,000 yen other only 50,000 yen. So do do ur withdrawal at 7 11 only, anyway 711 are everywhere.

Youtrip has a cash hold limit up ti 5k. I dont think there is a daily withdrawal limit. I did a 5k credit paymen and 1k withdrawal on the same day without any issues.

Every withdrawal has a 5 dollar admin to your Q1 yes. For your Q2 you can withdraw at the same atm...... for 10 times...... You dont need so much cash, most areas accept credit card payment...

For the youtrip withdrawals, does the amount get withdrawn/utilized as jpy first before sgd?

I have some hotel online prepayments. Wondering to top up youtrip to convert to jpy or just use trust bank.

Informative thread 👍🏻

if u have stored jpy yen, then it will be consumed first, followed by sgd, then other currencies u have stored.

does it follow the sequence for "Payments" for insufficient local currency ?

ie if want to withdraw JPY 2000, but JPY wallet only has JPY 1000

then the full JPY 2000 will be converted from SGD Wallet instead

I just tried a few debit cards at a 7-11 ATM. I got the generic ‘Your bank may charge fees’ message with the following cards
- Revolut (MC)
- UOB Debit Card (MC)

Otoh, I got the message that ‘this ATM will charge 110/220 yen’ with the following cards
- Trust Bank Card set in app to debit (Visa)
- Wise (Visa)

So looks like as long as you use a MC debit card, there are no fees from the ATM & the fees only come into play with Visa cards. This makes Revolut’s recent move to Visa cards a little disconcerting…

MC or Visa have its own pro and con. May be the other way round in other countries.

Take whatever you have in jpy wallet first - 1000 in you're example, balance will be take from your sgd.

Absolutely! However, I already have alternatives for 'free' ATM withdrawals via a Visa card (Trust & Wise) so I wouldn't want to lose my only MC (Revolut).

F&b some places still cash only, even got sign pasted. Can't recall what shop ard but recall it was a chain some more, not small shop.

I wonder how some countries like iceland can go mostly cashless. Low merchant fees?

Government support I guess.
In sg, recently you see the ex NMP Calvin saying we are backwards.. The wireless machine machine fee is $2000 which is too high IMO too
