The ones I saw only 1 had rims changed, the others still stock!!!!! But stock means don't change car!

I drove a COE car before. and my opinion, its not worth it at all.
A used PARF car is the best value.

1. COE car upfront costs may be lesser than used PARF car. But by not much.
And overall cost at end of life its actually almost same a a PARF (used) car.
Not including repair costs. If include repair costs, my COE car overall cost over 5yrs is more than my PARF car over the same 5yr period.

2. COE Cars, Frequent repairs, regardless how well maintained, all parts have lifespan

3. Road tax increase 10% every year from the 11th year onwards. Its quite substantial.
If you drive a 2L COE car, the road tax from 13th year onwards, very painful.

3. COE Cars basically become an expensive paperweight once COE is renewed. If renewed 5yrs, even worse, totally no value. No dealer will take it when you want to sell. Those that take in, they only pay the paper value. As good as scrap la.

this is my 2 cents worth from previous experience.
I'll not buy another COE car.
Sound advise to save a bit more, wait a bit more, for a USED parf car.

I'm driving Lexus IS250 COE car, car is 12 years 2 months old. Spent quite a lot on wear and tear but parts are cheap. About 5K++ spent on repairs and servicing and car detailing. I'm lucky with this car because 1 owner and only 120000KM when i got the car. Car is fast and good handling, information easy to find on Youtube.

Road tax is heavy but the build of this car is very much different than other cars, hence its value doesnt really depreciate that much. COE renewal was only 43K. Problem is now is not a good time to buy any cars, avoid if can.

if u compare to getting a new car of same performance and specs it will cost u more then 5k+ but mileage cannot be use a good gauge cos it can be temped with easily. so easiest will be the drive feel. it should be solid or at least no squeaky sound or wobbly feel for a premium model. if those B&B. model at least no squeaky or oil leaks at is bare min.

RT will increase 10% till 150% from 15yr onwards but easily offset from the savings.

COE car pain one time fix all the bushing and wear and tear parts then u will be fuss free for almost same period as a new car. certain things need to be fix together cannot practice the change only when spoilt cos somethings is link.

COE car RT 10% more each year till 150% so for 2L it will be as good as a 2.5L car at 15yr onwards.

if got money renew should always be 10yrs so even wan to scrap or keep after 15yr its a choice.

Because I only want to drive a short while get the thrill and sell and buy back JDM. If a 1.5 yr GLC300 is $230, vs a new one at $340, and I only want to drive a short while, why not get the 2nd hand? But to get anything >5 yrs or COE conti is no-no for me.

Depends on car makes and car brand also. COE rides unless you are the one and only owner, then highly know what has been done and probably on a safer side to renew it.
Non- conti ride, personally i would renew it lesser headache than conti ride. IMHO.

My advice comes from seeing way too many threads on people complaining about lemon 2nd hand conti

just want you to have an smooth and easy ownership life not buy a car later suffer more then not owning a car. Totally defeats the point

actually there’s no real good reason not to renew 10years rights? (Assuming money is not issue)

even if the car got major problems at year 15 or whatever, can still sell off and get back the rest of COE

whereelse if you get 5years means 5 years. No more life no matter what

ya, and let’s be honest. They go for 2nd hand conti is because they have no $$$ in the first place(if they had they would gone for brand new)

now, when things spoil and we talking conti here. Do you think they have $$ to pay? Some might not have accounted for this sum of $$$
