I believe SG bank card is useless as of now. You need a bank card issued by a mainland China bank.

But it is said you can top up with 3rd party and then you can use. I have no idea how it works though.

My assumption that you have a visa (not tourist) or APEC card? I enquire with Construction Bank earlier this week. There is possibility that with your visa, you could open a Bank account but the daily withdrawal limit may be lower.

I was enquiring for a friend but the teller was not very sure.

So when you are there, bring your passport with visa or APEC card to a Bank and enquire.

If you have a valid work permit (which gives you a local ID card) then go ahead to apply for a bank card. The bank card will allow you to register / link to both Alipay & WeChat Pay.

However if on short business trip then likely cash only.

I manage to get my friend with china bank account to transfer some fund to me to tide over it.
But it is getting really challenging to top up alipay as foreigner. Only long term work visa allow to open china bank account. Other than that foreigners can get prepared to be outcast in china by using cash payment.

International version of alipay is working for Android.

Just need to verify your account by scanning your passport and face.

Link your sg credit card ( may need to try a few ) . I am using Grab Pay Mastercard. Maybe can try link amaze or youtrip.

For every transaction, u need key in ccv code of your credit card.

For those having issue signing up for an account using the Alipay app. Install Taobao app, get a Taobao ID. And login to Alipay using your Taobao ID.

With Alipay, can link it as payment for DiDi and other apps and use for transport.

Hi do you mean the tourpass or just the alipay app then tag the sg bank card to it to use it? Thank you,

No need tourpass. Just add your credit card to Alipay. But some credit cards did not work. Grab pay credit card worked for me.

Remember to verify your account by scanning your passport image and face to your alipay account.

Yes good deal. Managed to bind Revolut card to a previously verified Alipay account. (y)

Can pay in shops and any merchant using your Alipay QR. Even if they don't have the Alipay machine ,they will have it installed in their phone to scan your QR.

Only cannot pay to individual vendor that ask u to transfer to their personal Alipay account for payment instead of official merchant alipay account.

Scan shop QR or display your QR code let shop to scan?
Today I just try using Alipay scan SG QR code at hawker, the payment was declined, MSG: only registered with China ID can pay.

No. U must show your QR to let them scan. That's the method that they do in China. Maybe can find some shops like Yue Hwa Guo Huo or Scarlett supermarket to try in SG.

Cannot scan their QR to transfer them money. It's only for China ID.

U can only scan to use mini programs / or do translation. Not for payment.

As far as I know, in sg can't pay. Because yours is sg passport verified alipay. In China no issue to pay.

Just tried to scan China Alipay QR code found on WEB, supprisely, the payment went through. That means I no need Chinese ID to scan and pay.
Feel little bit weird, with SG ID registered Alipay, it cannot pay in SG, and can pay in China.🤣
