Hi all,

I got injured (training) while serving in 2019 and was approved by the HRSSC. I received my SI card not long ago and was curious about the claim on PD%. Did my MRI few days back due to worsening of my condition (Lower limb weakness and shooting pain)

Anyone know the % range for Prolapsed Intervertebral Disc at L5S.

My L5S1 disc is protruding very very near to my nerve root. My specialist confirms whenever I bend (a little) there would be a nerve compression that results in inflammation. Also, it's not reversible meaning like example like slipped disc it will healed on its own compared to mine only able to worsen it that will require surgery soon or later stage.

The rests of my disc are also affected (mild budge) due to my L5S1.

On a side note, I've seen the MO at MMI and referred me to MMI KR specialist for further assessment. Currently on strong pain killer (Not Tramadol anymore) for nerve.

Hi,

I received my compensation award last year. Immediately after knowing the sum, I made an appeal

In between, I went for day surgery and visited A&E often because of my pain ( Morphine was given to me).

As my appeal went through, I was scheduled to see the MO at MMI to determine if my conditions warrants additional PD. I presented documented memos from different specialists from different hospitals. Took approximately about 1hr inside the room.

I was eventually referred to orthopaedic specialist at MMI itself.

As my condition deteriorate, what happens if the specialist assess my PD the same? Am I able to object the assessment and make a appeal again?

Need your help please

You can always object and appeal. whether it is successful or not, will be subject to their assessment

Did your condition worsen over time? If worsen, you should email to HRSSC for them to consult with their Medical Authority for advice. However, do note that you need your specialist’s memo to back u up and state the reason why your condition requires more PD%.
Unfortunately mine condition worsen despite all of the conservative treatment, my only option is left with surgery which gona be 3-4months hospitalised leave.

so far, i think i am ok.

it had been more than 20 yrs and i'm active, exercising weekly.

i dont think they will still entertain me since i am already with the CSC card.
should i need any medical attention, just bring the card along and its free.

Yes. Currently waiting to see the specialist at Otho clinic for assessment.
service injury card in a way is to cover future medical issue.

not sure if they will constantly raise compensation amount if your condition continue to worsen, because a service injury card is provided

At that point of time I was assessed and was awarded X% PD. Under the WICA guide, I wasn’t awarded the maximum that should be awarded to me. Now as my condition deteriorates, I have substantial memos to argue my case.

Hi,

Just a quick update, I went for my medical assessment. The NSF had my memos printed prior entering the room.

Immediately settling down, I got questioned and did physical tests as request by the specialist.

After all that, he commented “fair enough, I will give bit more of the compensation”.

Everything lasted 15mins. While the others came out less than 2mins. There’s one with unpleasant with the specialist’s assessment, made some feedbacks to the NSF. (probably need a stronger memo to fight your case)

- I’m not sure what he means, I just hope my appeal went through and be awarded the correct PD%.

how do you determine what's the correct PD%?

Based on the assessment guide book that is accessible to anyone. Although I’m not a medical professional but my condition and documented MRI/memos prove otherwise.
