Quick read on Ukraine war update

German Leopard 2 tanks arrive in Ukraine

The 18 vehicles arrived in the country today, according to a security source.
Germany pledged to send the battle tanks in January after lengthy negotiations between Nato partners.
Besides the 18 main battle tanks, 40 German Marder infantry fighting vehicles and two armoured recovery vehicles had also reached Ukraine, the source said.
The German army trained Ukrainian tank crews as well as troops assigned to operate the Marder vehicles for several weeks on training grounds in Muenster and Bergen in northern Germany.
Along with the German vehicles, three Leopard tanks donated by Portugal also reached Ukraine.

Ukraine war update today:

1) Poland has delivered "several" MiG-29 fighter jets to Ukraine

Poland has already delivered "several" MiG-29 fighter aircraft to Ukraine, the Polish president's foreign affairs adviser Marcin Przydacz said Monday during an interview with Polish radio RMF FM.

Poland announced it would send the aircraft, which were about to be decommissioned by the country’s air force, on March 16.

"When it comes to the MI-29 aircraft, which are still operating in the defense of Polish airspace, a decision has been taken at the highest levels, we can say confidently that we are sending MiGs to Ukraine," Polish President Andrzej Duda said at the time.

2) Zelensky says situation in Bakhmut is "especially hot," after Wagner boss claims Russian forces have "taken" city

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky thanked the Ukrainian military for defending the country, particularly Bakhmut, after fresh claims that the embattled eastern city had fallen to Russian forces.

"I am grateful to our warriors who are fighting near Avdiivka, Maryinka, near Bakhmut ... Especially Bakhmut. It's especially hot there today," Zelensky said in his evening address Sunday, without elaborating further on the situation in Bakhmut.

Wagner boss Yevgeny Prigozhin claimed in a short video published Sunday that "in legal terms, Bakhmut has been taken. The enemy is concentrated in the western districts."

3) A Russian blogger is dead following an explosion at a cafe. Here are other headlines to know

An explosion at a St. Petersburg cafe on Sunday wounded at least 30 people and resulted in the death of prominent Russian military blogger Vladlen Tartarsky, Russian state media reported. Little is yet known about the blast, but officials in both Moscow and Kyiv have their own theories about the motivation behind the attack

Yes, they have been saying it is falling soon like 2 months ago. Looks to me, this fight can continue for another 6 months.
Yeah hope it can stay on that way. At least it locks in the Wagner forces at one location, and will allow a counteroffensive southwards to regain lost lands.

True, but the game has changed to whoever makes an offensive loses the most so Ukraine is waiting for Russia to make a major move first. Which they must as stalemate is making them look bad.

Who was Tatarsky?

Tatarsky supported the war in Ukraine and had gained popularity since the start of what Russia calls its “special military operation” by providing analysis and commentary.

Tatarsky, whose real name is Maxim Fomin, created his Telegram channel in 2019, naming it in honor of the protagonist of Victor Pelevin’s novel “Generation ‘P,’” according to Russian state news agency Vesti. He had since written several books.

Before that, in 2014, Tatarsky took part in fighting alongside Russian forces in the Donbas region of eastern Ukraine, according to Vesti, citing public sources, when Putin’s fighters first invaded the country.

Tatarsky had more than half a million followers on Telegram, and while he was aggressively pro-war.
