If don't want to change the HSF and casing, I will
  • improve the airflow around the casing, esp if pc under table.
  • install stronger fans in the casing and the main HSF. Do check the orientation too. I prefer more air in than out
  • remount and repaste the main HSF. If the HSF is screw on, do not screw one side fully in one shot. Gradually screw both sides in.

Nothing will change because TS is using NZXT 500. Go look at the case you will understand :)

The 5800X3D should not run as hot as a vanilla 5800X because of the lower clockspeed and less aggressive power limit. Having said that, an AIO cooler is going to perform quite a fair bit better than the Cryorig H7 in cooling performance. I would recommend Arctic Liquid Freezer II because of the AMD AM4 offset mounting bracket that centralizes the cold plate to the side of the chip where the CCDs are. This helps to bring temps down. And I would think if you case takes in 280mm radiators, then go with the 280mm version.

It actually runs hotter, see discussion thread

Is the tiny fan in the Arctic Liquid Freezer II cooler noisy and has whiny sound?

This video shows quite noisy

I don't know if the sound is recorded as near as the video is showing. If so, then it is unrealistic because nobody will stick their head that near to the pump. My casing is always on the floor, so for my case, I don't hear it.

Pulled the trigger for the Lian Li 216 case and Peerless Assassin 120 SE (read a review that shows that it’s slightly better than the Arctic LF2 240). Total damage about $187.

Hopefully can see way better temps haha.

240 AIO is worse than air cooling in terms of noise normalized temps. It's not worth paying for.

I would go with Kleozy's suggestion for the air coolers instead.

Those are very solid air coolers.
Totally agree, if you can spend then AIO ok.. and 360 can fit Lancool 216 no issue. but if you heart pain like after 5 years cannot use the AIO due to degrade.. get air cooler better. will do it's job.

I believe your case is designed more for water cooled than air cooled so your airflow will be really crap. You can check the temperature within the casing and see if it is constantly being heated upand not able to dump heat out to the surrounding.
Changing cooler is not going to help if your case temperature is already 70 degree unless you go AIO and also have to consider your graphics card, if both is dumping out a lot of heat, moving at least the CPU out of the way using AIO may still help in the overall thermal profile.
Option 1:
Change a casing to be air cooled friendly. I basically do not like AIO because of the requirement to replace it every 3 to 5 years. So I chose this option back then. This also help your GPU.

Option 2:
Change the air cooler to AIO then hopefully it improved enough so that your GPU will not be affected anymore. If not maybe have to consider changing your GPU to AIO as well. Probably affecting only those higher end that throw out lots of heat. Low end GPU probably do ok no matter what environment you put them in.

Actually don't mind spending for LF II 360, but it is OOS everywhere. LF II 280 is available but may have some clearance issues with the 216 (depending on mobo) - I don't want to take the chance so I opted for the PA 120 instead.

Can consider to sell your current casing and get a nzxt flow series casing,.

Hi,

I am currently using a Cryorig H7 on my 5800X3D inside a Nzxt H500 case (non-flow variant). Idle temps around 50c but gaming temp can hit 86-90c (I suppose I am hitting thermal limit). Not sure if temperature is a major concern.

Thinking of getting a Lian Li 216 with Arctic Liquid Freezer 240mm (360 seems sold out everywhere). That said, I don’t know how much improvement it will bring and whether is it worth spending about $300 for it.
i read everywhere 5800X3D runs normally at 50C idle. even just using chrome with shoot to 70C. may i know how much FPS u gain?

i rather use $300 replace with a cooler CPU if gains are not much

Hmm, all my Arctic does not give this kind of noise. I believe the VRM fan is faulty,
can get replacement from Arctic.

did the cooler reduced CPU thermals?

Yes, I just re-assembled my pc with the new case Lian li 216) and cpu cooler (peerless assassin 120 se) last weekend.

Idle temp went down from 48-50c to 38-40c under normal ambient temp (35-36c with air con on).

Cinebench R23 run didn’t exceed 79c but the score was kind of mediocre for my cpu - about 14200 only. I guess I can increase the limit under PBO tuner if I want to see better performance.

Gaming (CP 2077 under 4K with RT on) improved quite significantly. Previous my cpu will hit 85c and gradually increase to 88-89c but now it remains below 70c throughout the session.

Just a quick question, how were the fan rpms and the fan noise as well?

Not too sure about the fan rpms. It’s definitely more audible than my previous case which has only 2 120mm exhaust fans. That said, my standing fan is still louder than my pc so it’s not too bad for me personally.

thanks for sharing. how about non gaming or productivity apps (e.g chrome, watching YouTube), how was the temperature?
