strongly recommend u all to bookmark & read this page before signing on the dotted line, to avoid painful lessons & heartaches.

afew of my friends got burnt badly by popular Qanvast recommended IDs, end up with a shoddy, bad workmanship designed home to stay now for years to come.
They told me, imagine looking at the bad workmanship in your own house everyday & there's nothing much u can do about it, unless u willing to fork out more money to get another contractor to fix it

some even can't move in due to repeated delays & have to stay in hotels. Their savings all depleted & their IDs don't care about their plight
I chatted with Qanvast ID before. Many of them buay kan one. I am those finance ppl, I think I know more than them.

i would honestly recommend my ID from Weiken if you have the budget (becos they are definitely not the cheapest firms around) for it.
She has been nothing short of impeccable through our reno journey till date (reno currently about 60% done)
Hi, so far, everything is good with weiken. I was thinking to get weiken too. But the price compare to other ID or contractors is around 10k different. So I was wondering if it is worth getting weiken? Thank you

Yup everything has been well so far!

Well, i was in the same dilemma as you. Weiken VS the other quotes that i got from other companies was like a difference of like 20-30k difference. But bought me over to Weiken was basically two points :

1) Peace of mind - Our Weiken ID was able to meticulously plan out our timelines, ensure things things were falling into place proper and working with the contractors closely to ensure that the work done followed though to the smallest detail as per our 3D designs. In the end, my wife and i only had to drop by like 3-4 times throughout the reno journey when we are free just to take a look.

2) My Weiken ID's ability to propose, counter-propose and coached us on the things that we wanted from the design perspective, how realistic it would be and what would be better. The IDs that we spoke to who quoted us cheaper all seem to have this similar approach where they would just ask us what we want and they will just do, which isn't what we wanted out of engaging an ID.

Hope this clarifies.

I really suggest folks who haven't gotten an ID or contractor, to pick a firm that is casetrust accredited. And to hold back payment.

How to hold back payment? When ID give first quote, how much to chop down? 30%?

Review of
Interior Times
This review has been removed by user on February 2023.
Reason provided: I was threatened with legal action or sued.

Omg, I was just talking to the IDs yesterday. They had a stunning reno on FB and I made an enquiry.

Wished I knew what the comment was about.

Edit:
Just finished trawling just 12 pages of the reviews. Like more than 90% of IDs are sh*t. Looks like things haven’t improved much since my first reno close to 20 years ago. Reminds me of why I designed my own reno and engaged contractors instead of IDs for my subsequent reno.

Within a few pages, I read 3 poor reviews on the above ID firm. Unlikely to engage them. Perhaps I will do my own reno again. Sigh.

Thanks to this forum, I found out that most IDs are not very educated bengs. No wonder most of them are so irresponsible and even ignorant when it comes to their job.

Renovation payment is by milestone. So be very clear what needs to be delivered before you pay. And always err on the side of underpaying first. Pay too much and they are no longer motivated to work.

Design4Space

I went with Design4Space and started renovations 2 weeks ago.
The design concept I wanted, I saw online most IDs charge from $70k and above.
Design4 Space quoted me $50k+.

I signed up during a promotion where they were giving free quartz kitchen countertop. I wanted the Lian Hin marble series so I had to top up $75/ft. A few days after I signed the contract, my ID told me they just did a deal with Caesarstone so I can choose Caesarstone with my top up if I want to.

They also gave me a $500 voucher for bathroom and light fixtures.
In addition, I could also choose between a granite sink which is around $400+ or digital locks up to $1000.

Plus they use blum fittings for the cabinets/wardrobes and also the thicker PVC lining for the cabinets/wardrobes. Some IDs I’ve asked require a top up for the blum fittings or the thicker PVC lining.

My ID alerted me to a Hafary sale and got his contact person there to assist us.
We managed to secure all Italian tiles for the entire house. We got tiles that were originally over $10-$12 for prices that were within the reno quotation range.

But one thing is my ID is a little blur, sometimes get confused with the details.
But it is understandable as we kept making changes to the design.
Just need to refresh his memory occasionally and he will get it right.

The good thing about him is he is very trustworthy.
He remembers all his verbal promises.

I just went down to see the tiling works and workmanship was good.
Even my in-laws were impressed with the workmanship, especially when we are doing herringbone layout with tiles for the bedrooms.

I can’t figure out how to upload pictures, will do so once I figure it out :s13:

i would honestly recommend my ID from Weiken if you have the budget (becos they are definitely not the cheapest firms around) for it.

Hello if both of you don’t mind can DM me the name of the ID please! Thank you!

Hi need advise, my BTO renovation is 90% completed, however my ID added additional costing to my kitchen carpentry when is not inside the original quotation ($4500) , then he insisted that he told us about the additional cost verbally and completed the work, right now he asking for extra payment ($720) for the kitchen carpentry which I am not aware of until he send us the updated quote, I have not signed any updated quote except the original quotation, what should I do in this case:(
if you have not signed any VO that indicates this additional $720, then you are not contractually liable to pay it. if the verbal agreement did take place, and the ID had forgotten to formalise it in a VO, then you may want to do the right thing.

Yes I am sure he did not inform us and added in later part, that why I find it unfair to me when is not in the original quote and he added in the extra cost on the basis of verbally informed us, in this case if I refuse to pay can he sue me if I did not sign on the updated VO?
only if he can prove that there was a verbal agreement.

Please do not engage this company. Firstly, their contractors are hit and miss. Their carpentry sucks, their project management (if any) is absolutely lousy and when you have issues, they will usually not be resolved in a proper manner.
Long story short - Avoid.
