So now you trade US stocks is better all no issues based on your 8 points of complaints?

If u look at my “complaints” I already provided the solution at no.8 which allows me to hedge my losing trades in the US market. This is a game changer for me.

On a different note: the SGX is mostly made up of banks and O&G-linked companies, neither of which have been particularly trendy sectors since about 2008 (for banks) or 2014 (for O&G).
I think it's worse than that. Oil and gas stocks are in long-term terminal decline, or at least they should be. The O&G industry has to die for the planet to survive. And there are only 3 bank stocks on the SGX. It's extremely unlikely we'll see any more.
And emerging-market equities in general have been a bit dead since 2007.
There are still many emerging market companies going public (IPOs). Those companies have understandably ignored the SGX.
And the rise of discount global brokers like IBKR has made it a lot easier for Singaporean investors to access global markets, which has siphoned even more trading activity away from the SGX.
This factor is the big one, I think. Stock ownership is intangible; it doesn't have any physicality. Singapore doesn't have any inherent advantages I can think of when it comes to digital goods. It has some disadvantages, actually.

Since you asked, perhaps I throw my face away and share my story why I do not trade SG stocks anymore

1. Bought good fundamental stocks, and saw their prices going lower and lower

2. Bought good dividend stocks, got dividends also not enough to see capital losses

3. Bought good reputable stocks, stocks that won some award. I bought then they started to go down, to the point it was delisted

4. Bought stocks that everyone says very good ah, sure huat... Bought during Main board then become Catalist

5. Trading is good. Bought penny stocks, to be fair, a couple of them made me huat. But not sustainable, bought others too. Overall, gg....

6. Bought IPO stocks. I bought, market sold. Cant fight the market. When prices recovered, still below my cost price, then after this, prices fell again.

7. Tried day trading style, broker fee too expensive and market not volatile enough. Bit by bit prices came down everyday.

8. Finally I thought I was enlightened. Cannot buy so I went naked short overvalued stocks. I didn't lose money because the price went up. But govt came out the rule cannot hold naked short position overnight, and stock I shorted had trading halt for the rest of the day and I had to hold my position till the next day. Got fined.....

Now tell me how to trade SG stocks??????

Seems like SGX only can play reits and 3 banks?

Keppel Corp chiong from 5.29 to 6.46 in little more than one month. To those that said SGX market nothing good to invest, where were you? :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

That's over 22% gain in less than 2 months :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

And it will continue to rise to $8-10. Huat gao siao ah :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

Spot on.... SGX listing is for company founders and venture capital investors to cash out and retire rich. Don't believe anything the sell-side analysts say.

I came to this conclusion as well. Think about it, if you are business owner in SG, ur company makes $100 million revenue and $15M profit after cost. What do you do about it? Declare dividends/bonus to yourself and pay taxes? Or list your company and sell for 20x PE, pay no taxes due to capital gains?

wow, your point about capital gains tax is really enlightening... no wonder it is easy money for the owners/founders.

That is when you the owner
continue to earn profit
And share with your shareholders
how many companies jus quit
after listing
Their job only agm or egm
or appear on annual report

In school we learn IPO is for the company to raise funds to expand.

In real life I learn it is for owner to cash out at multiple times PE.

They aren't fundamentally good if you look at financials statement, sph and smart both had declining eps trend for 5 years before delisting...

Not to mention balance sheet isn't that good either in 2016

You need to study the fundamentals on your own and not depend on others.

I owned SPH Stocks for many years (2011 to 2017) as I loved the dividends it was giving in the past but I sold it because I realised that's it's dividend payout ratio has exceeded 100%. This means that it is not sustainable. At that time, a lot of analyst are still saying that it is a good stock. Well, it tanked after that and it's dividend was cut. My profit was 24.25% including the yearly dividends.

I bought it back again using SRS when the price went down and soon, it was privatised and I earned again.

I also sold Sembmarine in the past as the debt was getting higher and higher. Soon, it tanked. Again, this was many years back. So I can tell you that these stocks did not have good fundamentals unlike what you say. Don't believe what you read on the net and media. Analyse the fundamentals yourself and more importantly, buy and sell at the right price.
