Have bought the following components already but having 2nd thoughts about the 7800X3D because primarily is to do ES futures trading on Quantower platform, then gaming and after reading the article at “https://www.tradingcomputers.com/expert-center/best-cpu-processor-for-trading-computers.html”, the author recommended intel over AMD.

so currently here are the purchase thus far

Any thoughts should I change to intel? Or stick with AMD? Any recommendations?
honestly i dont think it matters at all. keep in mind that that website is a business that sells computers, of course they will try to push for customers to go for more "premium" options so that they can charge more for builds. the 7800x3d still has very admirable single thread performance, and ive not seen anything about quantower being cpu heavy anyway. if really worried, u can consider the 7900 non x which has among the best all round performance while being not too far behind the 7800x3d in gaming (not that it matters when gpu limited). intel side u can also look at the 13600k or 13700, just pick whichever is cheaper ba.
if im using the high end gaming rig n going for team red, wats the best gpu n psu suggestion? n does the FD north case fits all the parts?
depends on what u mean by best, eg best performance or best value? if ur targeting the high end gaming rig suggested price, amd doesnt really have anything in the 4070 price bracket other than overpriced navi 22, so u can either save a buck and get a more sanely priced 6700 xt as suggested in the midrange build or step up to the 7900xtx (7900xt is still way too expensive locally to be worth imo). psu choice depends on which path u go, but make sure to not skimp on it and get a reputable unit.

fd north has large clearances. in general it is enough, though 355mm gpu clearance might not be enough for chonky cards esp at the high end, so do keep that in mind.
6. PSU - SilverStone DA850 80 Plus Gold 850W (Dynacore - $125)
da850 is probably fine for sg 240v mains power, but i would suggest opting for a better quality unit given the meager 3y warranty. u can get a good 750w unit like the asus rog strix 750w or msi mag a750gf for about 150, which is enough for basically everything but the 4090.
7. CPU cooler - use default Intel cooler

Not sure if there's any budget cooler to recommend that is better than the Intel.
the intel stock cooler confirm cannot tahan the 13700 at full blast (eg when compiling code). if looking to not pay too much for cooling, can consider the thermalright peerless assassin 120 @ $70 from bizgram for top tier air cooling. or if u want something under $50, can look at the id cooling se 224 xt.

Can be done, the front will be tight though

You can follow the high end gaming rig setup in page 1 with the Sapphire RX7900XTX Pulse and Asus Strix 850W PSU

This guy managed with a 4080FE (Pulse is just 3mm longer but smaller in the other directions)
https://pcpartpicker.com/b/ZTrrxr
The others might be too long

Alternatively you can just use a high end dual tower air cooler like I did (I have the Fractal North and a 7900XTX Pulse as well)

Hi all, currently running a Ryzen 5600G desktop for development (for compiling codes, e.g. .NET, Vue, Angular etc).

Thought of upgrading some parts to speed up the overall system response (e.g. Rider/VS). In future might get a GPU for some gaming.

1. i7-13700F + MSI B760M Mag Wifi D4 (Dynacore - $767)
2. RAM - 32gbx2 DDR4 (reuse)
3. GPU - Nv 1030 (reuse)
4. SSD - SN 980Pro 1TB (new - couldn't get PCIE4x4 due to limitation of 5600G)
5. Casing - Cooler Master MTX - old/spare casing
6. PSU - SilverStone DA850 80 Plus Gold 850W (Dynacore - $125)
7. CPU cooler - use default Intel cooler

Not sure if there's any budget cooler to recommend that is better than the Intel.
based on readings via youtube, the intel stock cooler is not very good for 13600 and above on load.
peerless assassin 120 or non se should be good for you, i been using for 3 days now so far so good.
for the psu, better to go for better ones ranges on sat i saw the rog strix 850w and seasonic gx 850w i read that both units are the same... only that the rog cable is a bit shorter. and the rog unit is cheaper too, alot of places the seasonic units sold out, all in info is based on last sat..

Both recommended coolers look bulky. Not sure if can fit within my Mtx casing. Hmm.. I'll have to measure

im going for 7700 with 7900xtx. for psu either corsair or evga. im not that pro. wat're ur thoughts? for the mobo, will it be a waste to get the atx version?

likely the difference the atx or mtx its about the better aesthetics, more PCIe slots, and beefier VRMs for overclocking. its better to check for the things that you want.

just check the product page of the case, cooler clearance should be mentioned there.

corsair has some good quality units, evga too, though the prices are not the best. if u can find the asus rog strix 750w or msi mpg a750gf for about 150, those would be great value picks. as for going atx, it depends on how many expansion cards u plan to add. if u r plugging in just gpu and nvme, then going atx would be a waste of the extra pcie slots.

Ok noted thanks. For the gpu, it's too pricey. For a while, on amd side, i prefer 6800xt. Shud i stick to dat or try 6950xt since it could beat 4000 series beside the 4090. Im not into rt n play SP games just for the picture quality. The only mod i use will be reshade preset. Not those realistic picture mod ala gta etc

depends on ur budget for gpu. i would go 6800xt if it is around or less than $750 given that it is 2.5 yrs old by now and 4070 matches it at $900. if u can find 6950xt below 900 that is also a good pick, though it only matches 4070ti at best. now amazon has a premium xfx 6900xt at 870, which is decent.

My budget is below 1k. But getting a gpu dats value for money, is hard. I still going for team red. For now i think it's between 6800xt n 6950xt. If 6950xt price drop further, I'll take that.

Hi all
Want to make pc a bit bling bling with rgb. This cooler master fan https://s.lazada.sg/s.b6Kpx needs motherboard with rgb header, whats that and how to check mb if got? If i add 3 fans do i need to buy additional rgb controller or something? Looking to get asrock b550m mid range build in recommended list

Also want to get argb extension cable. Psu is 24pin, how about gpu? Theres 2x 8pin or 3x8pin options, im again looking to get 6700xt as per recommended list

TIA

Hi experts,

I wanna build a new pc for general gaming. D4, MMORPGs like blue protocol. Im not too strict with the video picture quality but if can I am hoping to get a 1440p monitor with an acceptable refresh rate. Building with value for money/gaming in mind.

I am thinking of reusing my gtx970 but i believe this card wont be good for 1440p. Is the 6650xt good enough for 1440p gaming?

I also wanna reuse my PSU which is the superflower Leadex silver 650w, this one can reuse?

Final build would be something like this:
Ryzen5600 + Gigabyte B550M Aorus Elite
kingston fury beast 2x 8gb 3600mhz cl17 ddr4
SSD(reuse)
Asus dual 6650xt / gtx970(reuse?)
superflower Leadex silver 650w

I still haven decide which matx and monitor ..

Hello NR, thanks for your input, i will keep to this recommended spec (going to order the CPU, MB and Ram)

Currently, i have 2 Dell Monitors x 2 (i think they are 1080p ones) and a ergotrend tall pole monitor arms, since now upgrade GPU and CPU, should get a gaming monitor at least 4k to be placed above these 2.

any recommendations? I think 4k 32inch gaming monitor from dell only "https://www.dell.com/en-th/shop/del...23q/apd/210-begw/monitors-monitor-accessories"?

Thanks and looking forward to everyone's input.

Best regards,
Siyu

Hi, I am planning to buy this mid range pc and will like some help/idea/recommend to choice:

- Phanteks ECLIPSE P400/600 or Fractal Meshify C (I'm not comfortable in self dismantle and clean that's why I going for easy to clean dust filters)

- any recommendations for AIO? (I'm trying for good positive air flow so wanna max out the fans)

- so far I only get PCT build my last tower, so I might buy from the lists and get them help build for a $54 fee.

Oh ya, do I just get windows 10/11 from the shop or will there be cheaper alternatives?

Thanks and sry for the lengthy message 🙇‍♀️
