For Malaysia, some areas still not full coverage for 4G, usually maxis and celcome got better coverage.

It's normal. Certain area, certain telcos signal are weak or strong.

That's why you are given a selection list of Roaming Partners in overseas!

You have to select the best telco manually at times.
not coverage issue. becos i have bolehland prepaid using celcom network. have 4G/5G at the area i am testing.

zym totally cannot contact to celcom 4G/5G at all. only digi can. the area i am tested confirmed have maxis/celcom/digi/u mobile good coverage and speed for 4G/5G. (u mobile is not under the roaming partner list but i can roam to it no issue to receive SMS but data wise same as maxis and celcom, data is not moving at all even i can contact to u mobile 4G).

yes my experience now. i can only connect to digi 5G for data roaming to work. maxis 4G i could not connect. only managed to connect once out of many many tries. the rest all could not. normal roaming for voice or sms can, but data could not.

"Following a few hiccups encountered with its partner networks in Malaysia, ZYM users can now enjoy seamless roaming on Maxis 4G and Digi 5G networks. However, the stability of Celcom 4G remains questionable.

ZYM’s official roaming partners include Celcom, Digi, and Maxis. Previously, users were limited to connecting only to Digi’s 4G network, while the rest of the networks were accessible only in 2G EDGE."

not coverage issue for sure for the area i had tested. i had used different bolehland telcos prepaid sims here.

bolehald nowadays have pretty much full coverage of 4G for area with ppl living. so unlikely one area has no 4G for major telcos like maxis, celcom, digi or u mobile. if cannot access, it will be unlikely due to coveage but other issues.

the article shared by bro above already proved about my experience. but my experience with maxis 4G is still very bad. super super super hard to connect to maxis 4G. only one time successful. the rest of time all maxis EDGE.

obviously it is a known prob to zym data roaming to bolehland. no wonder they give 2GB free becos u cannot use data roaming 'automatically'. it is very troublesome to set the network manually to connect to digi 4G/5G just to use the data roaming every time when going to bolehland.

Upon crossing the causeway into Malaysia, the reader’s ZYM Mobile connected to Maxis 2G. After conducting a network scan, they discovered a list of available networks, including Maxis, Digi, Umobile, and Celcom, although some were inaccessible.

In an attempt to improve their connection, the reader manually selected Celcom, Umobile, and Digi 4G networks. While they managed to establish a random connection initially, it eventually downgraded back to the EDGE network.

Opting for the Maxis network, the reader found themselves connected to the EDGE network, which operates at a slower speed than the decommissioned 3G network. Disappointment settled in as they attempted to navigate their way to Kuala Lumpur on North South Highway, only to experience frequent disconnections on the EDGE network.

In an attempt to improve their connection, the reader manually selected Celcom, Umobile, and Digi 4G networks. While they managed to establish a random connection initially, it eventually downgraded back to the EDGE network.

This experience has left the reader puzzled, questioning whether ZYM Mobile has properly provisioned their service to connect to 4G networks in Malaysia. As a result, they encourage other travelers heading north to give ZYM Mobile a try and share their own experiences.

If you’re planning a trip this weekend, consider testing ZYM Mobile’s services and providing us with your valuable feedback.

Just curious.

Would our APN settings affect our overseas roaming data?

Ie. If we are roaming, should we use the default Singtel Postpaid APN or ZYM APN?
