This situation quite good already. I've had drivers purposely accelerate to cut in front of me to go into petrol station even when I'm cycling past the entrance.

Maybe I cycle fast and drivers misjudge, but they should realise that bicycles have quite a long stopping distance for their small size.

I too have encountered such clueless drivers. They are just unable to judge cyclist's speed.

When nearing a turning lane, the cyclist should just move away from the left and take the entire lane that is going straight. This will deter turning cars from trying to cut off the cyclist.

Nonetheless, road rage is wrong. Just make a TP report on the errant driver.

Now knowing yellow monster riding along that stretch, drive there to mark her and see if she will climb onto the bonnet again? Maybe she will.....

From the video in silent mode,I actually do not even know what the conflict is about. I thought there isnt any "incident" at all
Exactly, but the Karen cyclist probably felt that she was "cut" off by the car

No amount of logic and reasoning can be used on siaolang, need to use more siaolang method then the siaolang will back off. See the contrast when she blocked the car fiercely vs the end of the video.

Choosing to leisure cycle on busy public road on weekday mid day and expecting others to watch out for her already shows a self-centered and lack of care attitude for others.

Then triggered by small car overtaking and escalating to a road rage incident, overreacting by blocking one lane of the road (and many other drivers behind) to hold up the driver just to prove a point shows self entitlement (she don't need to work does not mean others don't need to: her needs to prove that she was right are more important).

Many sad cases where normal peaceful people, because of siaolang, had to resort to breaking the law to get their peaceful life back.

Seriously what did that moron bit*h expect to follow when she decided to block the car ?

People already talked nicely and apologized.

She expect the cops to do what ??? I can't believe a person with this pea brain can become a lawyer.

The cyclist insisted she entered the left turning lane FIRST. And it is a single lane. So she thinks that the car should not "cut" her in the left turning lane. Leave enough room is not enough, some car can be even bigger size.

I think most drivers will make the same "mistake". So drivers must be very carefully when turning, keep a look out for these cyclists.

It is the drivers who paid road tax, these cyclists really think they own the roads.

So in future, no happy like the Bentley vs security guard case, block the driver?

Pasir Ris lorry vs cyclist, lorry suffers more from the outcome
Haha you can try that defense in court. I would like to see you get laughed out haha.

what does the rule actually suggest road users do in such cases? curious what's the textbook reply

They should have set this question in Driving Theory test.

I think I roughly remember it is highest priority not to get anyone injured.

So in principle, the driver should not cut into the lane as the single lane already occupied by cyclist (as she is also a road user).

I would have drive slowly behind the cyclist. Nothing can stop me to honk honk her if she was moving slow.

There’re devices called bike radars mounted under the saddle to detect cars approaching from behind the bicycle. The cyclist can monitor car traffic from the rear with dedicated bike computers or on hand phones.
Such safety devices should be made mandatory by law to make these entitled cyclists aware that they’re not the only living souls on the road.
Or do like what we did in the old days - put mirrors on our handle bars so that we can see traffic behind us ;)

Follow behind.

Follow behind is the right thing. Especially those driver with mega size cars. Bicycle and car squeezed into 1 single lane, both never want to give way, accident sure happen. In the end both parties suffer.

I guess the cyclist selected her prey one. If the driver was AMDK, driving Ferrari, such incident won't happened.

maybe this should also apply to cyclists on footpaths when they encounter pedestrians ?

no ringing of bell and making pedestrians move onto the grass so that they can pass. just follow behind...

:s8:
well said. i really cannot understand most cyclists when on the road, expect motorists to keep their distance and look out for their safety. but when they are on pathment or PCN, they expect pedestrian to give way to them by ringing their bell excessively. strange.
