Just tried to scan China Alipay QR code found on WEB, supprisely, the payment went through. That means I no need Chinese ID to scan and pay.
Feel little bit weird, with SG ID registered Alipay, it cannot pay in SG, and can pay in China.🤣
Yeah its supposed to allow you to pay in china

International version of alipay is working for Android.

Just need to verify your account by scanning your passport and face.

Link your sg credit card ( may need to try a few ) . I am using Grab Pay Mastercard. Maybe can try link amaze or youtrip.

For every transaction, u need key in ccv code of your credit card.

For those having issue signing up for an account using the Alipay app. Install Taobao app, get a Taobao ID. And login to Alipay using your Taobao ID.

With Alipay, can link it as payment for DiDi and other apps and use for transport.
Doesn't work for iOS? Life in china is hard without Alipay or WeChat pay.

So Alipay will charge RMB to our cc when we use in China? Any add-on cc charges, like what they do on taobao?

Also, can use it on Taobao in SG?

Des that mean we can use alipay to make payment for purchases in china although having 0RMB balance in the alipay wallet because it deducts from our linked bank account?

Yes, it deducts straight from your SG linked credit card , even if your alipay wallet is $0.

use TourCard. But cannot use to scan vendor QR code. They say is a “new feature” coming soon. So only can let vendor scan you for now.

Tried. But did not work. A pop up was shown after I key in my China mobile details, and say the alipay wallet is not link to bank account. I guess they need a China bank account that's linked to the alipay bah.

Just bind your SG card to Alipay International version, see above quote. I used my Revolut card and it works.

My alipay is tied now to my UOB One Card. But just wanted to try to see if remit can work as well, which unfortunately I could not get it to work.

With all the scamming that one reads in the press, I've been looking at access security for Alipay app, playing around with the settings to see secure enough or not.

For one thing, you can always login via SMS, which is as good as no security since app is on same hp. It has setting to additionally require user to input last 6 characters of passport. Again, I find that's a loophole for me, as personally I store a pic of my pp on my hp (just in case during travelling). And it seems like this login option cannot be removed. So any scammer who gain access to my hp will have free access to Alipay irrespective of whether I logged out after using app. Fingerprint locking of app is not safe either since scammer can setup his fingerprint on my hp.
