Recently I visited Samsung service center for LCD screen replacement. The center policy is every phone sent in for repairs need to factory reset & wipe all data on the phone. What stupid SHxT policy they having here, even with any parts replace not requiring to do this factory reset, they stated if it is not done, then phone cannot be accepted for repairs.

Damn Samsung, have enough for their poor performance devices & absolutely sub-par customer service & policies.

They can transfer your data and pictures out if don't do a clean wipe. They scare you might sue them.

PDPA, cannot blame samsung, or else people will accuse samsung of stealing your info

From what i know, if you have care + and requested them to go to your home to repair it, "SOMETIMES" the technician will not do a factory reset if you ask nicely

For Samsung phone, there's a Maintenance Mode option under Device Care. Imho, wiping data is unnecessary for screen/battery replacement unless the motherboard is replace.

Hmm i didn't know that, I'm wondering will svc do a hard reset if the phone is under Maintenance Mode?

i argue using the maintenance mode before, the service centre stuck their foot and refuse to entertain anything unless i agree to sign the form authorising them to erase the phone and they erase the phone in front of me .

all these because i want to change/check the battery , my sot is only 2-3hr at best for my zfold3 ( batt falls from 100 to below 50% on 1 mrt ride to the service centre) i was really pissed cos they keep telling me batt life is healthy .

if they have SD card, its easy to remove the sd card then they just reset and i put back SD card when i get back the ref0rmatted phone but none of their phone has SD card anymore.

nowsadays samsung copy apple and put all the downloads/files into complicated folder structure inside the app folder in main memory , its very hard to check and note down which app save which files where.

the main issue is also , the backup/saving is not as mature as apple icloud. samsung backup is really rubbish and they force ppl to reset the phone when servicing. its a hassle esp for those phone like zfold/flip where u confirm need to service at least 1x

last i send in my fold 4 for sp replacement..they only ask me to put into maintenance mode..and i did it infront of them...then they just bring it to backend to replace.

once done, they pass me back my fold 4 with new SP..and i proceed to restart back as normal mode.

screen protector is different, they don't need to power on the phone at all

I send my fold&flip4 for SP replacement, they never even ask me to unlock the phone, just pass it to them and wait 1hr

he handed over the phone with password to a 3rd party shop technician.

this also happen to me in samsung repair. the guy force me to give him the password even tho i put it in maintenance mode. he say he need to do diagnostic to check what is the problem and for registering/accepting phone for repair.

at the end , just kenna forced to reset phone when i need to hand over to them for extended diagnostic cos i refuse to believe that batt life is good . the counter guy keep insisting on it , blame that my apps are eating too much ram (then those laptop with 32gb ram will die faster? simi **** logic) there is no correlation with ram usage n battery power use. dunno which engineering school they go one.

maybe its a tactic they used to force me to go away but whatever. they told me that they changed the battery a week later but its still the same estimate lousy batt life/health in accubatt app. so i just sell away my fold3. less than 1hr journey already eat up 50% of batt. boh korleng one.

As a consumer, i also feel its very troublesome to restore/backup my phone when i send for repair

But if you step into the shoe of the service guy, I too also want to clean my backside and ask customer to reset the phone, why? There's a saying singaporeans cannot have nice things

I use to work as LG customer service for mobile phone before, when I ask customer to reset their phone, they will be disgruntled and treat me as dirt, when i first join LG, I try to be helpful and help customers to save their photos by whatsapp the image to my personal phone first than I send his image back to him when he got his phone, did I get a thank you? a big fat NO! what he did next? He write in to complain that i invade his privacy by holding onto his photos when this cuckoo was the one who suggested that I hold on to this photos first!

I recently went down to the Samsung Service Centre at Bedok Mall. I had called in previously and an appointment was made. I was informed that I had to backup my phone, as due to PDPA, the service centre had to reset the phone.
The Service Representative informed me that the 10x Zoom camera on my S23 Ultra was indeed physically faulty and needed to be replaced. He also informed me that it would take upto 3 days to repair & return the phone back to me.
I informed him that I did not have a spare phone to use, and all their loan sets were currently fully utilised.
Too bad for me...
The Service Representative told me he would do his best to help me, and I went back home.
Less than 3 hours later, I got a call and they told me to collect my repaired phone.
I want to be fair...the Service I received was outstanding.
That was my one & only experience ( so far ) with the Samsung Service Centre. I have been using Samsung phones since the Note 3, to my current S23 Ultra.
The Service staff were polite & helpful. I was very pleased and I just want to commend and give due recognition where it is deserved.
Thank you Samsung Service Staff at Bedok Mall!
