tried already, cannot. power cords unplugged for the ONT / router when off for 10mins. browser cannot log in, Linksys app can log in. does that mean anything ?

I suddenly can access and log in using Chrome. wonder why ? maybe new firmware update ?

Yes that Nokia mesh router is bad.
If you are using Starhub TV, have to get router from Starhub.
Like Linksys Ax4200 but need to pay.
Or cheaper option is get a second hand Linksys EA8100 around $20+.
Take note if you buy second hand router, you have to do a reset.
Some seller do not reset the router thus you will not be able to log in.

You can switch to 3rd party as you like (of course not those Singtel issued router with built-in Singtel VLAN which can not be disabled).

This is a new development and Starhub has not updated their websites (or maybe intentionally not to update in order to sell the Nokia router)

Please check post #382 and #399.

Post #399:
Yesterday I just went Starhub to get TV+ Pro box and it is confirm that any ISP and any router also can watch free to air channels. This make the service more flexible.

Triple confirm.

I also switched away from the vlan setup since now I have my own internet service. 😂

seek advice from techies on fibre.
StarHub install hg8240 ONT for my dad place. Then hg8040h5 ONT for my place. My dad place keep getting lag (at late night) - packet drop assume

is the 8240ont older or not so good version vs 8049h5v?

The ONT should not be the issue. I am using Huawei HG8240 ONT myself since 2014 (replaced once in Dec 2021 and they gave the same model).

Check your Wireless Router. You may want to post the floor plan and placement of the ONT and router. If you are still using Nokia Beacon 1, it is better to upgrade. It is the worst routers from any ISPs after 2020. Before that Singtel AC Plus was the worst wireless router (among all free routers given from 2014 to 2020).

You should check the wired speed to see if it is normal or not. Sometimes the Fibre connection to the ONT or Ethernet cable connection between the ONT and your router may cause problems.

Recently I got the Linksys Mx2 which is AX3000 which should provide better wifi coverage but to my surprise its wifi coverage is worst than my Nokia B2. Their TV+ Pro box is bad and keep lagging and i have went down to change it 3 times and finally return to Starhub.

Coverage is largely due to placement and whether its is wired vs wireless to connect to mesh units. There is also a limitation on science - reliability vs speeds vs price vs no of bands.
The linksys mx2 is a dual band unit. In a mesh setup with wireless connectivity between the satellites and main, speeds will be affected even in good placing. There is a misconception (and properly over marketed) that mesh solves problems.

Interesting to know.

Take note AX3000 rated WiFi 6 router does not mean to have better coverage than AX1800 rated WiFi 6 router.

If we look at Starhub's comparison of Nokia Beacon 2, Linksys MX2001 Velop and Linksys MX4200 Velop (triband), you can see that Starhub actually estimated that Linksys MX2001 Velop to have roughly the same coverage as Nokia Beacon 2 (two units to cover 3-4 bedroom).
https://www.starhub.com/personal/broadband/routers.html
It is also interesting that Starhub also puts the coverage of the 10G Nokia XS-2426X-A all-in-one ONR to be similar to the Linksys Velop MX4200 Velop (1-3 bedrooms with single unit).

Take note that the Starhub estimation is based on the assumption that the placement is rather optimal.

I put the router at the same location and end up the Nokia B2 has better wifi 6 coverage.

Yes over marketed. CSO said MX2 is better than Nokia.

That's good news for those with MX4200. I had wondered how MX2001's 5GHz: 2x2 @ 160MHz would fare against MX4200's 5GHz: 2x2 @ 80MHz.

Up for re-contract, likely to pick up 1Gbps plan while 10Gbps matures and Carousell the MX2001.

@Henry Ng, did you re-contract recently? Care to elaborate on the TV+ Pro box? Does it need to be set centered and unfenced? Is it still in use or have you swapped it for the white TV+ box?

@xiaofan Now that we can watch FTA channels without router restriction, could and should Starhub's MX4200 (MX42SH-SG) owners flash their router to Linksys's firmware?

As always, thank you and keep safe!

Hmm, I will still suggest to keep the Starhub FW as it will be supported by Starhub/Linksys.

Based on previous Linksys EA7500 v2 and Linksys EA8100 history, Linksys may provide longer FW support for Starhub version.

That being said, I do not use Starhub issued router for my Starhub 500Mbps plan.

From the following thread, Starhub Nokia Beacon 1 and Beacon 2 will have TR-069 enabled. I am not so sure about Starhub FW for Linksys routers (LInksys EA7500v2, Linksys EA8100 v1, Linksys Velop MX2001 and Linksys MX4200). Hopefully the users here can help to confirm.

Power users may not like TR-069 (Singtel ONR and Singtel issued router has TR-069), as the ISP is able to monitor your router through TR-069 and gain knowledge of the devices connected to your home network.

I'm ready to take the plunge. Here are the settings on the Nokia Beacon 1. There are a few options which I am not sure what to do? Would appreciate some guidance. Thanks!

WAN Connection List: 1_INTERNET_TR069_R_VID_0
Connection Mode: Bridge Mode
Enable/Disable: Ticked
Service: IPTV (should I tick this?)
Enable VLAN: (should I tick this?)
VLAN Mode: Transparent (the other option is "add svlan")(which should I choose?)
LAN port binding: LAN1 (should I tick this?)
SSID port binding: SSID1 SSID2 SSID3 SSID4 SSID5 SSID6 SSID7 (all these are unticked at the moment. Should I tick anyone?)
