what's the difference between the 2 10GBPs cards from same seller?
1) $149
2) $80
No Differences, its the same product, $149 is from Amazon US, and $80 is from Amazon Japan.. probably price diffence is due to shipping cost..

Nope. For the 2 routers to form a mesh, they need to be connected to each other. If you want to make use of both, you need to setup each as an router connected to each 1gbps respectively.

noted with this. can i know how? Currently these are the setup.
TP - ONT3 - ASUS 1 (wifi 1) - Static IP 1
ONT4 - ASUS 2 (wifi 2) - Static IP 2

If I want to make use the 2 ASUS, is it like that?
TP - ONT3 - ASUS 1 (wifi 1) - ASUS 2 - Static IP 1
ONT4 - Empty

thanks for the reply. if that's the case, I got no point to subscribe 2gbps gamer plan. unless link aggregation. any link aggregation option I can opt for? does MR allow this?

As long as you have one static IP address and a higher end router which supports dual WAN load balancing, you can achieve what you want.

Example: RT-AX86U Pro, GT-AX6000, GT-AX11000 Pro, RT-AX88U Pro, etc
ONT 2x Ports -- GT-AX6000 WAN 1 and WAN 2 (Dual WAN Load Balancing), AIMesh main router
GT-AX6000 LAN -- TUF AX3000 (AImesh node)

if that's the case, should I have second static IP? 1 static IP is enough? or have 2 static IP is fine?

In order to have Dual WAN Load Balancing to work for MyRepublic 1+1 Gbps plan, it was reported that you need at least one static IPv4 address . Two static IPv4 addresses are of course fine as well.

Would you guys recommend the entry level 10GBPS plan or the gamer addon? Not too sure what the additional $5 for custom network monitoring and live latency monitoring means?

Sorry guys I have a noob question. What are the benefits of having a static IP? What kind of settings are required on the router if I have static IP? Thanks!

If I am not wrong, the static ip will be automatically assigned when you connect to your isp.

static ip may generally be required if you need connect back to your network / devices in your home, or need to have a fixed ip address to access external resources/network.

generally, if you are not facing an issue today, it wont be needed.

Actually the problem is that MR (as well as VQ) is using CGNAT, so that you do not have a public IPv4 address. Singtel/M1/Starhub/Whizcomms have dynamic public IPv4 (not static). Usually static IPv4 is more for power users and business to host servers in a more convenient way. But since MR is using CGNAT and has no IPv6 deployment, they choose to offer static IP for people who need a public IPv4 address (even though they may only need a dynamic public IPv4 address).

Potential issues and work-around -- just some examples
1) Certain router functions like VPN serer for remote access (eg: OpenVPN server or Wireguard server) may not work. Work-around is to use things like ZeroTier and TailScale which can work with GGNAT in most cases.

2) Certain router function like remote access to file server will not work (eg: Asus AIdisk 2.0). However you can use more advanced NAS solution like those from Synology, QNAP and Asustor.

3) Dual WAN Load balancing will not work for MR 2Gbps plan, without static IP add-on (one static IP will do, no need two). Dual WAN Load Balancing will not work with same private network segment from the two WAN connections.

4) Extra latency may be added which may cause issues for gaming or other latency sensitive application. On the other hand, MR may be more willing to optimize the network route so this may not be a real issue.

5) Getting a static IPv4 address from MR will help all the above 4 issues. It also makes hosting servers from home network easier for power users (even when compared to dynamic public IPv4 address).

6) On the other hand, even without the static IPv4 address add-on many users may well be okay since they do not need things like remore access back to home network.
And even if you need remote access back to home network, you may have other work-arounds, other than issue 3 which is specific to MR 2Gbps plan users who want to use Dual WAN Load Balancing which is a niche use case.

Anyone signed up for MR and got the free Asus TUF Ax4200 router? Just wondering did they provide a receipt or some sort for the router for warranty purposes? If not how to claim warranty from Asus as I understand Asus requires proof of purchase for warranty?
