No religion was used as a reason for the conflict. It was all about land grab. That is all.

Ah trying to divert the argument using a blanket statement from history.
The Malayan Chinese Communists, self-radicalised by PRC's Maoism, were the main threat until they surrendered their arms.
After that, the main threat up till today are those who want to jihad for a caliphate in Nusantara. Though MILF has been defeated, any terror cell can always try to target army camps or mass civilian areas like MRT stations during peak hour.

what I wrote is my opinion that regardless of invaders' origins and beliefs, as a citizen of Singapore, it is a duty to defend our country against them no matter what brotherhood they bear or where they come from.

Even if a citizen is a Chinese and the invader is of a Chinese country, the citizen is bound to the duty to defend the country even if it is towards his own race, and not change sides based on racial, ethnicity or religion, will you not agree?
