My logic keep telling me that you not a person who knows how to appreciate music. Why buy a good headphone?

What is good sound? It can be subjective one.

Different person can perceive sound in different manner; not to mention personal preference. E.g. Some prefer punchy bass, some prefer flat or more treble.

Good but cheap headphone/speakers may be able to produce audio that sounded "right" to your ears.

Of course if main purpose is go for brands then it's different story.

There are basic acoustic science, mainly the sound will sound good when the reproduced dynamic range is wide.

This is usually achieved by having many different drivers (speakers), each covering a specific sound frequency.

Next, it is followed by the quality of the driver, how powerful and accurate it can reproduce the sound.

Simple logic. The benchmark is live music. Imagine watching your favourite band live. In a concert hall. Or listening a symphony orchestra live. The closer to that, the better is your sound system setup.

Good sound = high fidelity. It should be reproducing artist’s intention, not colouring it.

And of course you have to know how to notice the details, otherwise no point spending all that money on good equipment.

Look, if u can afford it then buy lor. If u have not experienced good stuff before then u will not know what is bad stuff.

I went to the Sound & Sight Exhibition recently, enjoy the sound by one of the system, but simply cannot afford. Just the pair of speaker is S$250k, excluding other equip. So, buy within your budget can liao. Chase after best sound system is no end to it.
