"Singapore's Ethnic Integration Policy is a success', according to a Japanese think-tank.

This morning, I had attended a seminar, which examined Singapore's development model. As this is a closed-door session, I shall leave it to the institute to publicise, if it wishes.

Due to worsening demography, Japan is studying larger scale immigration of skilled foreigners into the country. However, acceptance by the Japanese society is an issue. If immigration/foreigners are seen as being managed at the micro-level via mechanisms, such as EIP, the Japanese population may accept.

On the other hand, some attendees view EIP as undemocratic.

Others opined that Europe might not face the rise of the conservative right and extremism, had immigrants, refugees and asylum seekers been managed at a localised level, without built-up of ghetto communities.

It's a success because sinkie is very easy to manage, control and manipulate and Singapore is a very small country. If whole world population all think and behave like typical sinkie, govt can implement any changes they want without issues.

not culturally similar but at least many Brazilians are fond of all things Japanese, not just anime but the culture in general. cos Brazilian japs are not a small number in their country.

Agreed. Implementation is an issue. Ward in Japan is analogous to CDC.

How to tag the condition is a challenge.
Japanese like foreigners to blend into their society. In their view, a foreigner who chose to emigrate to Japan, means they admire, respect and accepts the way of Japanese life. Japanese expects "new Japanese citizen" to be truly Japanese. Retain some original culture but forego most past habits, mindsets, behaviour. Japanese do not want multiple little China, little India, little Pakistan, tiny Taiwan, tiny Korea, small Vietnam communities etc all over.

To be a Japanese and not just a citizen. To be a Frenchman and not just a passport holder.

So far they have accepted mostly those from locations with smaller cultural gap, relative to Japan.

But the numbers from these locations may not be sufficient.
