President Xi really is for the people. Have to applaud China on its anti corruption and anti bribery efforts in the last 20 years.

He is doing this for his ambitions lah. If he manage to resolve the Taiwan issue in China's favor, then his legacy and position is secured. It is unlikely the young Taiwanese wants to join China. So the longer they drag, the less likely they can absorb Taiwan through peaceful means.

The only road they can take now is to either take Taiwan by force or give up Taiwan. The later is political suicide and will result in his downfall so its not possible.
