Without the apk, you dun have the information of the deduction.
They are making the commuter life more troublesome for their ease.
It is similar to the phasing out of the KPT card.
Sometimes i want to try different route and see which one is cheapest...now need to be clueless for a few days until the app update my transaction ...also i will not know when need to standby to topup my card since cannot see real time balance..what if suddenly card low fare and at the point of time i no money to topup

this is not upgrade leh, it's switch to lousier system. depending on the situation, got more cons than pros.
no need say simi depends on situation bah...from multiple uses to separate to different single or lesser uses cards , makes it more confusing for people. how can be upgrade

From their perspective, it is an upgrade for at least 2 reasons
1. No fare display = faster movement since people got no reason to pause and check fare/balance.
2. Account based = better tracking information, whether for police or for LTA to plan where to cut service routes or reduce train frequency.
3. App based checking = better personal information from your phone for better profiling and tracking.
1. nonsense. ppl still have to check if they scanned successfully. i.e. they need to see the simplygo msg come out, means people still need to look, might as well put more info.

2. i don't believe the older system cannot be tracked, if not last time how lta plan their routes and stuff?!?

3. i think older system allows users to look at their past trips by scanning their cards on their nfc-enabled phones that have the ezlink app. i don't think i remember it wrongly but i could be wrong here.

As long as the system achieved their objectives, the inconvenience incurred on the commuters is none of their business.
It is the "responsibility" of the individual commuters to perform their due diligence.

I am just waiting to laugh when the whole gig to breakdown after every one start to overload it.

You don't see, don't mean nobody has problems. When I was taking public transport frequently, often see people stuck at door/gantry trying to use their phone/non-EZLink card.
Also, once everybody is conditioned to not check their fare and Simply Go, after a certain amount of trust is built up, who will still be checking if SimplyProfit is quietly siphoning 0.1 cent every trip?

tbh, if ur phone can't scan, most probably is ur phone problem

anyway do u rem the good old days when there was only ez link cards....SO MANY PPL STUCK AT THE GATES because

1) not enough balance
2) card expired
3) other nonsense

I daresay last time more failures :s13:

I took mrt to work for almost a year, I pay with my CC on my phone, zero issues and it was good because i never had to worry about insufficient balance and don need to top up, which was a pain to me

The money value of our old Ezlink cards are stored in the card.
The money value of the new SimplyGo cards are stored on the LTA cloud server.

That is why upgrade already, the card details will be on cloud server and cannot be revert back.

That is also why if use ezlink card in car IU, should not upgrade to simplyGo because the car IU cannot connect to LTA cloud server.
That means the gantry isn't connected to the cloud server so can't display the fare on the screen. Having an online system to process offline transportation needs is risky. That exposes the system to hackers overseas isn't it...

You say you card has the "SimplyGo" logo
And that means it is not SimplyGo, until you convert your card?

They claim the backend system cannot show ..
maybe due to security reason loh.

Not so sure also ..
Maybe is why only logged in users using the SimpleGo app then can see personal transactions.
Cloud server loh. Cannot anyhow read info from it

Online system so people can pay with bank cards. I think cater for coming JB RTS so msians can all pay with bank cards instead of top up cards.
