Lol it is astute business dealing by Sg gov indeed... but then also offended many neighbouring regional countries and cosmopolitant cities that are trying to compete, especially Bangkok and KL.

But then I guess for SG ... it makes perfect sense because it would be cheaper to travel to Bkk or KL to watch concert, their accoms food tickets all also cheaper.

Hence regional audience may not wanna come SG if all these cities also holding the same concert.

Hence Sg with strong money and spending prowess would be willing to splurge just to monopolise the concert market share lol.

I would argue that popular artists will sell out anyway, exclusive to sg or not.

regional concert goers and tourists would not choose to come to sg to catch these concerts given a cheaper choice.

henceforth sg has an interest to make these blockbuster concerts exclusive ... so neighbouring concertgoers have no cheaper choice but can only come sg to spend top sg dollars, food, hotels...

By doing this you attract the cheapo fans who will only spend at hawker and stay budget hotel. Because all the budget used for the tickets already

If sg wanna concert hub they need to upsell the experience with more exclusives, like vip boxes, limited standing pit, better audio etc. only then you will attract the rich crowd who will pay for comfort instead of squeezing with the cheapos. And these high spenders are the ones who will stay mbs / fullerton & spend the big bucks

Take the 20m and make a proper concert place with good aircon and facilities instead of the shitty national stadium with bad audio and seats so far from the stage
