here now, after the meat check station is the manual immigration queue already, no counter to register for egate

or do they automatically register at the manual counter

2. Terminal 1 of Taoyuan International Airport:
(1) Self-enrollment within e-Gate.*
(2) The NIA service counter in the arrival hall (within the control area): from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily.
(3) The NIA service counter next to the Bank of Taiwan in the departure hall on the third floor (outside the control area): from 6:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily.

3. Terminal 2 of Taoyuan International Airport:
(1) Self-enrollment within e-Gate.*
(2) The NIA service counter opposite the M.O.F.A. counter in the arrival hall (within the control area): from 5:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily.
(3) The NIA service counter in the arrival hall (within the control area): from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily.
(4) The NIA service counter in front of the No.19 check-in counter in the departure hall (outside the control area): from 6:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily.

Anyone was in Taiwan recently during the cny period?

Are the shops and attractions mostly closed?

Mainly Taipei?
I know Hsinchu is v quiet even on 2 days before the eve of CNY as TW coy started as early as Thurs no work.
Right till 4th day, shops aren to even open.
So it will be a very quiet for tourists, but nm, may not be fully functional.

Any advise for how much to bring for a 5d4n stay in taipei? Dont really want to bring too much cash. Is crediy card or youtrip accepted in the malls?

Depends on what y r spending on, if street food most of the time and public transport, around s$50 per day per person should suffice.

There is poster big big showing citizens from eligible countries can enroll e-gate. A bit hard to miss one, just look around when nearing manual counters.

most shopping malls like Breeze, FE21, Shin Kong Mitsukoshi Department Store aka 新光三越 accept visa, mastercard and amex (美通)... Youtrip, CC/DC, etc... are accepted... I never try unionpay before though... hahaha...

For shops in XMD, not many shops accepting credit cards... some shops may have green color card machine but they dun seems to accept international cc...
