agree. but do more checks, even if the PSU is Tier A in the PSU list, does not mean it has no problems. best to google the particular PSU that u are looking at for common issues...like my "Tier A" ATX 3.0 Thermaltake GF3 1200 bought it after only seeing its Tier A and also a few good review, did not think to search for issues....face so many problems, submit for RMA and sent replacement 1350W instead cause they say 1200W no stock)

The replacement also crap, shorted MB. The old one crackling sound during start up, buzzing sound during normal operation, occasional PC restarts. after google for issues, found a lot of common unresolved issues. I threw away both PSU before it causes more problems....got a mid range (not mid range price though) Seasonic Vertex instead so far no problems.
i think most of the time have to factor luck also..

Is there any experienced/worthy shops at Sim Lim that just do the assembly service? I'd like to shop around for parts but really have no idea where to build/assemble those purchased parts.
most shops that sell pc parts have assembly services too.

i dont think vertex is considered midrange :s22:

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 7600X ($329 @amazon)
https://shopee.sg/product/431670888/25005633802

Motherboard: ASRock A620M Pro RS WIFI ($209 @Shopee)
https://shopee.sg/product/431670888/25005633802
id go with either a 7600 non x or 7500f, both are very similar in gaming performance to the 7600x for a much cheaper price. i also did try to source an a620m pro rs a while back, but even though there were a few listings here and there, after inquiring around it was clear that it was oos basically everywhere, so make sure to confirm with the seller before ordering.
id go with a thermalright pa120 white for cheaper and is known to be among the best air coolers around.
Memory: Corsair Vengeance RGB DDR5 32GB(2 X 16GB) 5200MHZ C40 1.25V White ($163 @amazon)
https://www.amazon.sg/CORSAIR-VENGEANCE-2x16GB-5200Mhz-1-25V/dp/B0B62YRGSJ/
techyard has a faster tighter 6400mhz cl32 2x 16gb kit that is still white for cheaper, and is a local set to boot.
Power Supply: Superflower Leadex III Gold 850W Fully Modular ($147 @Shopee)
https://shopee.sg/-PCIe5.0-SUPERFLO...LAR-POWER-SUPPLY-UNIT-i.288213245.10449366747
850w for a 7600x + 4070 build is very overkill (550w is enough), an asus rog strix 750w will do the job just as well for basically the same price at pct, and in return u get double the warranty length. u may also be able to find an adata xpg core reactor for 125 at performance pc too, which is yet another high end psu for a good price.
GPU: Zotac Gaming RTX 4070 Twin Edge OC 12GB White Edition ($944 @Shopee)
https://shopee.sg/ZOTAC-GAMING-RTX-...TECH-DYNAMIC-PTE-LTD)-i.697821916.19285931841
id go for a white 7800xt which can be found for at least $100 less. if u insist on going 4070, id go down to sls directly where white ones from zotac and galax can be found closer to or less than $900, or higher end models like asus dual white or gigabyte aero can be had for a very small top up (<$30).
a lil expensive, a lancool 216, corsair 4000d airflow or high airflow ones from montech from sls can be had for about $125 or even less.

How much u willing to spend for a monitor? I recommend the AOC24G2 1080p monitor.
https://shp.ee/ij1n939
Considering the specs(5600 and 6650xt).
If you like a clearer image, you might want to look into 1440p monitors. Monitors unboxed on YouTube is a pretty good source of information

Will buy the parts and build it myself.
If the parts you showed above add up to 2k it is overpriced. Do you want your pc to look good? Or is performance the most important?
Imo the NZXT cooler is overkill, Thermalright PA120($50) is more than enough. U can reference my list above and see if it makes sense with your build.

i am budgeting around $350 for the monitor. Is there any good recommendation for this range? For the casing, which one should i go for as well.

Any Thermalright PS Evo users? Need to know your thoughts on performance etc as i like the full black minimal rgb on it. Though i can just buy the fan n set it on my PA. Thanks...

12th gen is already a few years old at this point, and its quite hard to find sls shops still selling it. getting a k cpu and a b series mobo also feels like a waste, since b series mobo cannot overclock and thus ur throwing money away for a feature on the cpu that u cannot use. u can also find cpu mb combos that are better for gaming and also cheaper. my go to right now is a ryzen 5 7500f and b650 for under $500 (though white amd mobos are very rare), so unless the 12600kf + b760 sl is significantly cheaper or a full white pc is a must i would go amd.
Cooler - NZXT Kraken Elite 280 RGB White
nzxt aios are generally overpriced for the level of performance on offer. i would only go for it if aesthetics are a priority, else i would just go for an arctic liquid freezer ii which delivers comparable cooling for a much lower price. or if u go amd as i suggested, u can settle on air cooling for even less like ones from thermalright as soreloser mentioned.
GPU - RX770xt 170% 12gb or RX7800xt 190% 16gb
the price gap between the 77xt and 78xt is too little to justify the loss in performance and vram. just go for the 78xt unless ur budget is really that tight.
RAM - just need ddr5 32gb 2x26 6000 cl30
techyard has a very well priced kit of white 2x16gb 6400c32.
PSU - 750w psu white
Case - not sure looking at Montech Air 100 / Vetroo M03 / Vetroo AL600 / Phanteks Eclipse G360A
all of those cases have a psu shroud with no cutout, so no point spending extra on a white psu. if the adata xpg core reactor is still available around $120 from pckaki/perf pc, that would be ideal; otherwise an asus rog strix 750w for under $150 from pct is a decent deal too.

if ur budget is that tight, full white builds will come with too many compromises to be worth it imo, since white parts generally cost more for otherwise no functional difference.
So I just have to go sls and find the parts from the different shops and find any shops to assemble for me @ $50?
sounds like a good idea, or u can see which shop u buying the most parts from, collect the parts not from that shop first then one shot buy and build at that shop.
And also, appreciate if anyone can advise what casing and monitor is good for this build.
For the casing, which one should i go for as well.
case wise, ive left some recommendations at the bottom of the first post, though since it is not a very low power build, u could get away with a cheaper case.

i should note that i do not know if the 6650xt is still in stock, so if it is not, i suggest going for the rx7600 which can generally be found below 400.
CPU: Ryzen 5 7500F ($221@aliexpress)
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005005872268718.html?spm=a2g0o.productlist.main.5.6aa764afCMCMTB

Motherboard: Asrock b650m hdv/m.2 (was $180, suddenly took a price hike to $225 on amazon.sg)
https://www.amazon.sg/ASRock-B650M-HDV-M-2-Supports-Processors/dp/B0BY6YRT41/
u dont have to look overseas for these parts, dynacore has a decent price for 7500f + asus tuf gaming b650m-e which is only $20 more. the tuf board has a much more well rounded feature set, plus u get local warranty. and if im not mistaken, the aliexpress price is without gst, so with it added the overall price is about the same.
CPU Cooler: Thermalright Peerless Assassin ($55@amazon.sg)
https://www.amazon.sg/gp/product/B09YT5BQD9/
id get the newer better phantom spirit 120 se from pct for $51.
PSU: Superflower Leadex III Gold 850W Fully Modular ($147@Shopee)
https://shopee.sg/Superflower-Leade...l-Modular-PCIe-5.0-Black-i.1122108.3452588864

GPU: ZOTAC RTX 4070 SUPER TWIN EDGE OC 12GB (ZT-D40720H-10M) ($910@carousell)
https://www.carousell.sg/p/1187529023/
850w is very overkill for a 7500f + 4070s build, 550w enough. either the adata or asus psus as mentioned above in response to rain29 will be better picks as they offer double the warranty length (10y vs 5y for superflower) for a comparable if not cheaper price. and imo, going 7800xt is still the better pick as u can save almost $200 for 90% of the 4070s performance, plus u get more vram. so overall u can save quite a bit, plus u get all local parts with distro warranty if u follow the reco on the first post, with similar value when considering raster performance.

Hi Everyone! My first post here! :)

Which CPU should I consider to match with RTX 4070 / RTX 4070 super for 2K gaming?
i7-14700K / i5-14600K or Ryzen 7 7800X3D / Ryzen 5 7500F ?

I am on GTX 1060 now and would like to try some RT in games on my 2K monitor.
An alternative to RTX 4070 / RTX 4070 super would be RX 7800 XT?

I noticed there are many recommendations on Ryzen CPUs & Radeon graphics cards in this thread.
I was thinking of going for Intel & Nvidia. Hope to get some suggestions!

If you're into RT, definitely go 4070 super. As for the CPU, it depends. Personally, I recommend AMD cpus because they dont use as much power and perform equal/better while providing a better platform with longevity(AM5). I would say that if you aren't playing games such as CS2/Valorant(high fps), the 7500F would be the better buy. Especially since the AMD 9000 CPU series will likely be releasing in June(might be later), you might want to upgrade the GPU, and wait for the new parts to release and make your decision then.

Upgrading from I5-6600k and GTX1080
Which makes more sense to pair with 4070ti super?
14600kf, 14700kf
7600x, 7700x, 7800x3d
Are intel's E cores any significant compared to AMD?
Looking to just build and leave it there for the next 6/7 years like all my previous builds

Thanks for your suggestion. I am deliberating between Intel (14th Gen) and AMD (AM5).
I have read reviews that i7-14700 runs hot while Ryzen runs at lower power (less heat).
Is 7800X3D & i7-14700KF an overkill for RTX 4070 super? i5-14600KF or 7500F would be good enough?

I usually play games like Cyberpunk 2077, The Witcher and some single player FPS etc. Not high FPS like CS2 or Valorant etc. Will also be used for web browsing, watching shows, learning , work admin stuff etc. Not running any production software, rendering video, streaming etc.

We are wondering about which CPU to pair with RTX 4070 series

It seems like the e-cores will work well for multi treaded productivity software but will not increase performance for games which run more on p-cores. That is why 7800X3D runs faster on games even though there are less cores. The higher e-core on i5/i7 will not gain much in gaming performance (compared to 7600/7700/7800X3D) but will be better in productivity software performance.

7800x3D is pretty cheap at the moment. If you can combine 10% off voucher from Lazada (70sgd off for 700sgd min buy), the price of 7800x3D can be lower than 500sgd (it's ~470sgd for me). Go with AMD if you want to upgrade later as we only need to upgrade the CPU, not the motherboard (AM5 already).

I know.. just that the ryzen 9000 series is really close to launch. Would be a shame to buy a 7600 now when new products are coming out soon. However, I can give some anecdotal advice as I have a 7600/4070ti build. I think 7500F/7600 is a good balance with 4070super/ti. It seems that there isn't much of a bottleneck as I play games such as cyberpunk/baldurs gate/helldivers at pretty much 80%-90% util on both CPU and GPU.

If you wanna optimize performance you might wanna add in some undervolting as well, the 4070super/ti's seem to be really efficient. I got my 4070ti down from 70C at 280W on gaming/load to 55C at 130-160W gaming
