National security is not the actual reason. If it is so, hosting all US users data in USA servers will solve most of the problems.

US jin smelly can force company to sell? I think worldwide need to use same tactics to force the US company in others country same way how they did.
Otherwise world need to reconsider US.
Wait till one day before ban then offer to buy for cheap cheap

The ccp never make noise. It is tiktok ownself make noise.

Prevent data from being send over ? FB also caught selling users info to China liao and nothing is done to Mark Zuckerberg..... as long got money and enough money many american companies will also readily sell the data to China company (may be CCP related or not) at the right price.

Only naive people believe US BS they wanna protect their citizens and their data and security ..etc.
of course in the first place this is motivated by commercial interests, Meta will benefit.

but at the end, u cannot compare Meta selling selected info to China versus TikTok being a data mine with millions of terabytes of info freely available for CCP to take.

i would say both sides have their own agendas but US has won this battle. fair and square. if China can freely ban Google, Facebook, Reddit, Instagram, Youtube, Gmail, Twitter, Snapchat, it is fair that US gets to do the same to TikTok also.

fair and square. dont forget Google, Facebook, Reddit, Instagram, Youtube, Gmail, Twitter, Snapchat, all banned in China. in the first place it doesn't make sense to give a CCP app so much control over young Americans' phone screens.

china bans SK NAVER and Japan LINE too. tiktok should tao chio they can exist so long in democratic countries. now championing free speech when at risk of losing biz y they nv challenge china on censorship over their operations in china

China's suspension of Korean platforms started in 2014 with the message service KakaoTalk. Then Naver's online forum feature Naver Cafe and its blogs have been blocked since 2018.

I think not totally banned in china. I think news reported a few of the above apps are downloaded in china Apple appstore. Many people bought iPhone just to use the apps in china. Most of the china brands high end phones sold in china still comes with gms preinstalled.

See for yourself, many of the so called banned apps is available in china apple appstore and number of download.

Your post always highly inaccurate. No need to naive this insult that in your post. You conveniently always forget China also ban a lot of the apps within the country which includes FB, IG, google, whatsapp

Chinese government stand (read not just read the address link)

Can also show me where you see fb selling data? The breach was from an external company which fb close off the loop after

I wonder what will happen if Tiktok sold to a Singapore company with no China Chinese as any stake holders ... does it mean Tiktok can continue to operate in US liao ?

Bet will chu pattern again .. yet Sinkie wanna believe Amercians politicians trust and believe in Sinkie being a neutral country and a trustworthy partner for US.

Their politicans just treat all Asian as sidekick. This is white supremacy, unspoken but the cold hard truth.
Can name a Singaporean company that got chased down by US? I only hear before US setup a lot of HQs in SG for the region.

Spare your scare tactics and FICA here. This statement is just ridiculous

The bill is not for a ban but for a divestment. Big difference. A ban would the the last option. Christ. That's up to Bytedance or should I say China. :s13:
