I have a 65 inch panasonic tv that doesn't turn on. The red light blink once every few seconds. Been in use for about coming to 6 years. Anyone knows the problem and if it is still worth repairing? Thanks.

My LG TV has a display had the bottom half of the display that flickers. Figured that one or more of the signal lines are corrupted. Fixed the problem when I opened it up and used a masking tape to block the faulty signal.

There is a video on how it is done.

Panasonic TVs are notorious for power supply issues. I'm guessing it is just that. The standby light still works which is a good sign. But that's just an indication that the ON signal is not getting through to the main board due to a malfunction which needs to be checked.

Nice. You must be an electrical engineer.

Hi experts, I have a 3 year old LG 65C1, in the past 2 weeks the standby light disappears intermittently and then the tv cannot be on, but when the standby light is there, can on and works perfectly. Can check what’s wrong and what can be done? Any contacts? Any estimates about how much this will cost? Thanks

Does seem like an internal component is heating up too much.

Does seem the Vgh or Vgl need to be tested. Those are the signals responsible for the display output.

It does appear that the bottom left started to display a colour distortion which starts to spread to the rest of the screen, causing some short circuit and then going full black. It is likely a display issue (which can be costly to fix)

If you put your fingers to the lower left side of the screen, you may or may not feel some heat issues.

Trying my luck here. My Panasonic th-60cx630s has led lighting partially spoilt on the left side (less vibrant colors), and currently has horizontal lines. Is there any way to fix this?

Need to check is it power board problem or LED problem. Also, your display may be slowly giving up.

Hi all,

I have a LG 55” B8 OLED which is 4.5 years old with no issues until yesterday.

It was on standby with red light on only (not turned on) when it started smoking. I have not turn it on since.

Could it be a capacitor problem? That’s what Google says. In any case, just curious to know if it’s worth fixing and what’s a reasonable price to pay. LG is quoting 190 SGD just to come diagnose it.

Thanks all for the help.

What's your TV smoking? Marlboro or 555? Kidding...

How bad is the smoke and can you tell if it's an electrical burning smell?

Just a quick update. I decided to turn it on and it is working fine but my wife is terrified the TV will explode and cause a fire.

It seems to be working normally…so just wondering what exactly has happened ? Confused LOL!
