Easy to push, also easy to roll back. Cuts both ways.

During my time we just burnt the 10 year series and then mix into water to drink..
And we all ended up in RI/RGS..
That’s proven

sibei BS...

dotter not in RI (because she wisely choose another school), yet can be a guru on what happened in RI.

My dotter qualified for RGS. But she wisely chose another school. She developed better as a person. Eventually also got RP90 and a scholarship.
Personally I dun think RI is a good school. The pressure is intense. To a point students cheat in exams. A do anything to win culture.

MLY ah MLY...

My sec 2 niece is aiming for triple science. Actually double can already right?

from what i know, JC’s dont offer triple science combo now. But if u are talking abt Sec 3 subject combo then yes there ish. Cos my girl took triple science in upp sec. And ya to get into science stream in JC can just do double. But in JC first yr if the results not up to it they might ask u to drop to H1 for the science subjects.

And btw if ur niece planning to go JC then its gd if she can take A maths in upper sec too.

I was from HCI. I only had English tuition when I was in P6 because my grammar is very cui. Now still cui though

My advice is don’t push your kid too hard when they are in primary school. streaming is there for a reason. If you child cannot study means cannot study. So be it.

I have a lot of classmates suffer in HCI because their “natural caliber” really cannot make it. The worst thing you want is for them to lose interest in their studies by pushing too hard early on. Education is a marathon and life long journey.Cut them some slack. Let them be kids.

I would say my HCI years were the most memorable times in my life. I was in a sports CCA and everyday after school is just Chiong down play sports. I was lucky as I didn’t have to study much and managed to score well in major exams. I failed most of my tests though because I only study at the end of the year, which was something I could handle. Though it’s quite sad to see some of my mugger friends suffer mentally and emotionally because they just couldn’t keep up despite all the hard work they put in.

Better ask the ministers whether they are good schools or lousy ones...

is this more important than his mental health? be careful kids can get depression.
he must want these things for himself
Yes, please take note of his mental health too. Sometimes kids will say they want to be a lawyer/doctor just to please their parents.

True story: My own nephew studied till PhD in Science because his parents wanted him to go into academia/research due to the perceived status. He completed his PhD but is now pursuing a degree in Performing Arts, which is his main passion. At nearly 30 years old now, he is still studying. Imagine the time and money wasted in pursuing a course he has no interest in.
