A short trip to Hong Kong

Was In HK over the weekend too, meet up with friends from other countries.

Both day rain and rain, but no complain, as weather cooling.

My 1st trip to HK after covid. Before Covid, I visited HK at least once a year for like consecutive 7-8yr. What I observed -

- lesser crowd, lesser tourists
LKF on a friday night was quiet, maybe just 40% of the crowd before covid. Used to be 寸步难行， now can just 大摇大摆walk through LKF

- so many char chan teng closed down. Want to eat good polo bun also hard to find

- Yung Kee Roasted Goost @ Wellington Street
We heard standard dropped big time but still want to give a try since it was a place we met up and had dinner whenever we were in HK. It was so bad include the goose and price went up so much. Not returning for sure.

In fact, told my friends lets meet in KL, Taipei or China in future. No more HK

That is true. Visited Kam's roast goose and Yung Kee again this time and was not as good as precovid.

Had better 燒鵝例牌/Quarter Serving in some of the smaller stalls. SZ prices are even better and cost less than an Sg 燒鴨例牌 ..

Last day of Tin Hau Festival at Sai Kung 天后誕. Parts of the roads were closed and lined with 'pasar malam' stalls.

Yueju opera, an intangible cantonese heritage, unfortunately cannot appreciate, dun understand as well.

They sat on one of the rows in front

They are generally not known for being polite, service staffs will likely not sugarcoat their words and do not bother with fake courtesies, may kenna queue cutting

( enountered one lady cutting queue, we told her people there is actually a queue, she said there was a gap so she filled it up .. )

If skin very thin easily bruised then HK is not a place to go, japan would be far better.




I dun use LR, I use Photoshop.

I mainly shoot jpg, raw file sizes are huge and cumbersome for my workflow, raw only for fireworks actually.

Basic white balancing, Sharpening, Denoise, Clone stamp for those dust spots / rain spots. Color adjustment thru PS Adobe Camera Raw.

The latest Adobe Camera Raw filter has a new Ai Denoise for RAW which is frankly the best I have tried. I also bought Topaz products to run denoise and sharpening. Generative fill for cropping / rotation is very useful as well.

Now adobe runs on subscription.

I got the cheapest LR + PS plan.

Package includes app for windows/iOS, browser based Photoshop and also app for Android/ipad

Why go HK shoot birds?

Dunno why people's experience in HK so bad. Need to eat all the local stuff like those in those tvb food shows and chinese youtube. Dun go to all those guide book ones. Visit all the off the beaten path places. Explore the streets.
