Best DSLR camera for travel

I'm using a7iv and 20-70mm f4. Very good lens for travel esp when you need to go wider than 24 for landscape shots. You can get a7c2, even lighter and more compact

If you already use to Nikon, just get Zfc.

Unless your Nikon lenses are with your relatives, then get the Sony A6700 with 18-135mm. This is more than enough for your travel. Don't really need a DSLR nowadays as it's just way too heavy to lug around. Unless you are a serious hobbyist and need high quality photos, then full frame mirrorless camera is the way to go. DSLR will be phase out very soon, so don't head that direction.

I have D70, D810, D4s.....all sitting in the dry cabinet. Now I use Z7ii with Z6ii as back up most of my time.

Get Sony A series if you love editing videos and creating video contents. If you are just looking for still images, any mirrorless cam is good enough. Although Fujifilm are not full frame but their APS-C sensors are pretty good and one of the best in the market, especially the X Series.

Best to go down to Funan and have a feel on all the cameras that is available at TK Foto (I am not related to them but they have it on display which you can test test and have a feel). You don't really need a high end ones. A Fujifilm XT-30 is more than sufficient but limited stock. You can also try the X-S20.

Between the R8 and Z5, I think the R8 is the superior camera. Probably better AF than the Z5.

My current travelling kit is the Z6 w/Z14-30F4 and Z5 w/Z24-200F4-6.3. Use to carry just the Z6+Z24-70/FTZ+70-300PF but find it challenging to change lenses especially when travelling on a tour group. I also lug my Canon R7+RF100-500 if there are birding opportunities.

Z5 and Z6 is about 5 years old, and my R7 run circles around both when it comes to AF, its black magic is strong!

I tested out fujifilm xt20. It doesn’t state an aperture priority mode and many buttons/nomenclature are different. Aperture needs to adjust the ring on the lens and the rear dial for EV is hard to turn. I think it is me but I struggled to learn it so I drop the idea

not sure if I should look at other fujifilm models

in the end I got Sony a6000 series which is much more similar to dslr. Still learning but manage to learn the basics. Good enough for noobs like me

I do. I am even thinking of how to capture video at the same time but then may end up spending more time wrestling with all the equipment instead of being in the there and now.

I bring a spare body but leave it in hotel. Serves more as a backup in case my old primary camera dies. Dun wanna carry too much weight, somemore still have to carry shopping bags and stuffs... Need to grow a third limb ..

Personal opinion. I feel If only take travel photos for posting online and not printing big portraits. Get Mirrorless APS-C cameras will be good enough.

For Me, I am currently using Cannon M50 series of camera. Low light performance is so so but with extended ISO and the camera's updated software, High ISO pictures are actually pretty good.

If want to use canon EF lens need to get adapter though. else the stock lens will be sufficient.

I only use my main camera for pics.

Videos I use Osmo Pocket 3.

Phone is a backup in case either dies .. My pixel cannot do log cannot even stop AWB when shooting videos..

Lol nowadays carry camera gear like damn heavy. I just carry two zooms nowadays only. Alternate between film and digital.

Some yrs back I still carry a film camera alongside digital.

Nowadays dropped film altogether .. getting priced out by the 120 slides and the price of developing.. maybe one day if I do my own E6/C41 developing..

Any light weight low profile harness brand to recommend?

I saw some sells those leather ones but looks heavy and attract attention. I’m hoping to hide it to some extent with a thin black jacket

Gm5 paired with a 14/40 prime or a 12-32 zoom and normally clip to belt. The main is in a slimg normally....

Belt is the usual belt or camera belt?

I only know thinktank belt and it seem that over so many years it is still thick and heavy

Normal one. Lowepro belt clip bag. Whole gm5 setup is less than 300g so this works....
