Recently notice that some Airbnb in JB is asking for a deposit. Saw one asking for RM200.
From Airbnb
Hosts aren’t allowed to charge guests a security deposit through our
Resolution Centre
or outside the Airbnb platform.
I will avoid any Airbnb that asking for a deposit.
Let us stop Airbnb hosts from doing it, at least for JB. Boycott those that require deposit.

Usually I’ll leave a comment about the deposit on my Airbnb review to warn the next person looking to rent this unit.

I would like to change my phone's bulged battery. How's the quality, workmanship and price of phone repairs in JB compared to SG? Any recommendations?

finally got news report, hopefully after this report, the issue will be addressed.

their minister quite good at "solving problems" after they have been exposed. he wants to look competent but does not have a team that can provide him with alternative solutions.
Ago, this Indonesian eatery at Eco Botanic serves quite nice food.
Another venue to bring your Siam bu to patoh…

MM2H Updates.

I was reading some discussions. The data below are from MM2H reddit and Facebook groups.

It seems that they have aborted the income requirement. It comes with a big catch.

It appears there's a new rule.
Which is one must purchase a property after approval and can't sell for 10 years.

How much to fork out for just the silver category?

You will need to put 150k ringgit in a selected fixed deposit. Half of it can be withdrawn after a year for medical, property or domestic travel.

Bare minimum you need to pay.
600k for the house.
150k deposit but 1/2 can be used for the house. So put it 75k.

Still need to pay misc agent fees, stamping, legal, duties, etc. Say 100k

So for silver category, you need to get ready at least 775k ringgit.

For the silver category, the visa is only valid for 5 years.
Again, property can't be sold for 10 years.

Also for the gold or platinum, despite it has a much longer validity period. If your passport expires, you need to renew your visa under whatever prevailing new rules.

The general consensus by both locals in lowyat and expats is the new rules isn't make it easier nor worth it.
What's the point of spending nearly 800k ringgit to get a five years visa.
After it expires, the renewal is based on whatever new prevailing files.
And it's quite silly and irrational that you pay so much upfront to enjoy a temporary lower cost of living.

It's much better to consider Thailand.
Their digital nomad visa can easily get you a 5 years visa. https://www.timeout.com/news/thaila...-digital-nomad-visa-heres-how-to-apply-061024

Or wait for Sabah and Sarawak version of mm2h.
The two states want their own mm2h because if the rules are the same, then who will want to stay in East Malaysia

The purpose of the new MM2H seems to for gathering more Roberts to clear their excessive properties. :o

Regretted stepping into this supposedly Nyona eatery.

The kuik is too sweet n aren’t authentic.

It is run by youngsters

The tomyam seafood soup and fish soup is substandard. It is all using ready ingredients to cook.

Hi guys, just asking if anyone know where to buy baby products (like sterliizer, those big items) that is recommended ? I saw some stores in MidValley, but if there are cheaper options and closer to custom will be better. And do you guys know if the GST limit will apply per pax or can we combine per family for an item ?

Time spent outside SingaporeValue of goods granted GST relief*
48 hours and aboveS$500
Less than 48 hoursS$100

According to folks who shared here, strictly speaking cannot be combined. E g 3 pax visiting less than 48hrs, the $100 x 3 relief is individual rather than $300. But they might close an eye on that..might . I showed grocery receipts excess of S$100 before the officer was ok.
