took them so long to realise? a lot of these report button abusers are not altruistic. They are not reporting for the greater good. The mods are just tools for them to fulfil their extremists views and agenda. I think to a certain extent in the past, the mods walked into the hole by being too obliging towards them. Like someone said, mods excessive at times, unnecessary intervention encouraged their behaviour. Time to pban them.

I think mods need to clarify on this like the other guy said, if a person insult another person calling him idiot, and mod still said it subjected to interpretation, then it's really wasting moderators time and grey matters. Just enforce on a black and white basis, like what you said, you called other people deragatory names, you get points, as simple as that. Otherwise this forum will go into anarchy everybody just calling other people's name, and mods have to spend time deciphering which are deemwd an insult, which are deragatory and which are not.

there are many here that let remarks slide
for the weak hearted, they take measures like reporting. a bit abit feel insulted.... report.
but of course, direct insults and vulgarities are not encouraged and will be reported...

I asked before. The older mods had some senior mods admins PM them. Ask them if they wanted to be mods.
Why they were chosen, I don't know. Maybe because the contents they posted, the admins thought they would make a good mod for that particular forum? Or were they chosen at random?

The later mods were chosen through elections/votes. The failing of this system is, Mods that were chosen through this system, might gain an advantage during votes, if their identities were known to a lot of friends in real life and they happen to also be members of this forum. Rather then because the general members of the forum deemed them most capable of moderating the forum.
