If you can use Ethernet backhaul, then just get one unit of Xiaomi BE10000 and then cheaper mesh node like Xiaomi BE6500 Pro (quad 2.5G LAN ports), new BE6500 (quad 2.5G LAN ports), or even the lower end BE5000 (single 2.5G WAN port).

If you need to use wireless backhaul, then get two units of Xiaomi BE10000.
Thank you. Also for Wired backhaul, what would be the best way to have a 10G backhaul, given that the Lan ports are limited to 2.5G? Or is this nor achievable?

If you want 10G backhaul, then you need two Xiaomi BE10000. You can use a DAC cable to connect the two SFP+ ports if the distance is not too far away. If it is far away, you have to use two SFP+ modules.

1) SFP+ copper 10GBase-T modules + CAT6 Ethernet cable
2) SFP+ optic modules + Fibre

Can confirm if the BE5000 is just plug and play? I plug in the BE5000 and it changed from orange light to white after I press the mesh button on my BE10000. Does that mean the network is completed?

I am very sorry but I am alergic to the word "Plug and Play". There is no such thing as Plug and Play in reality. You did press the mesh button on the main router, right? Is that considered as "Plug and Play"?

You may want to log in your main BE10000 to see if the mesh node is working properly or not. If yes, that is it. You may want to move it to the right location. Better is to use Ethernet backhaul.

If white light comes out, normally it means the network is ready for internet connection. U can test the connection whether it works or not.

Yup, I pressed the mesh button on the BE10000. As i got no PC, i cannot access the full settings to see if my connection is to the main router or to the mesh router.

Is there a way to tell we are connecting to the wifi through the main or mesh router? The mesh is via ethernet backhaul.

Well I use my 6500 pro as AP so that is nothing much to set except the wireless setting. I am not sure about mesh setup. Normally the router will able to check the clients connected.(Not sure about xiaomi GUI will show whether it connect to the main or other node mesh).

I use my TPLINK AXE16000 as my main router so anything i will go to my router GUI page.

Thats the problem I have. Cause I got no PC to go and see full settings. But then again, i realise xiaomi BE 10000 is really solid even at further end of house, normal usage seems ok. Mayb end of day will just use 1 the be10000 support entire house and be5000 can retire. Lol

I have not used Mi Home app myself. It is said that you can use Mi Home app and set the region to China to manage the Xiaomi China routers. I always use the Web UI myself.

During the setup phase, I use the LAN cable to connect to 6500pro. It can go inside the UI and adjust any setting u want. It has a own IP address to connect into the UI. Maybe u can try that using a laptop or smartphone using Wifi.

Xiaomi BE6500 (RMB499, launch price at RMB 479) tear-down and speed test review by Chinese Youtuber, better than Xiaomi BE5000/BE3600 since it has quad 2.5G ports, a good alternative of the more expensive Xiaomi BE6500 Pro.

Xiaomi BE6500 Pro has build in Xiaomi smart hub function but the function may not be that useful in Singapore. Xiaomi BE6500 Pro has faster CPU (IPQ5322) than the Xiaomi BE6500 (IPQ5312) though. Still Xiaomi BE6500's CPU (same as Xiaomi BE3600) is still faster than Xiaomi BE5000.

Two use cases.
1) used as the main router
2) used as the mesh node for better ones like Xiaomi BE6500 Pro, Xiaomi BE7000 or Xiaomi BE10000.

Xiaomi BE5000 Wireless Internet SpeedTest at 1m close range, using 1G WAN and 2.5G WAN, just to show how upgrading to higher internet plan may help the wireless speed, if you want to feel happy about OOkla SpeedTest results.

Wireless client --> Acer Windows 11 laptop, 2021 model (Intel Core i5-1135G7 CPU, 16GB/512GB), Intel AX201 WiFi 6 adapter

Xiaomi BE5000, CH44, 160MHz channel bandwidth

I am using Singtel 5Gbps for this test.

1) Using 1G WAN port

2) Using 2.5G WAN (eg: if you use SIMBA/MR 3Gbps plan). If you use M1 2.5Gbps, then the upload speed will be lower as it uses GPON technology (say you may only get 1Gbps with upload).

Still using 2.5G WAN with Xiaomi BE5000, but with newer Acer Swift Go 14 OLED 2024 version (Intel Ultra 125H, 16GB/1TB) with Intel BE200NGW chipset (WiFi 7 chipset, Intel Killer BE1750x), 1m away

Somehow the download speed is a bit slower than upload.

Wow, you got two. Using mesh with wireless backhaul?
Waiting for my Resale HDB to be ready, I got it in case I am unable to run cables and forced to use wireless backhaul, and I was in China.

If I can use wired backhaul I may sell one off and get a cheaper mesh
