My Sony tv screen has been flickering non stop since today. I’ve tried a few methods from the internet to solve the problem but to no avail.
Anyone had similar problems before and managed to solve it?

Very disappointed with Sony, bought a KD-55X8000H 3 years ago, just little over 3 years, the screen fail me with flickering and ghosting image. Have anybody encounter this before? Went to service centre and was quoted 900+! Call service hotline, they teach all sort testing via software setting but does not help. Quite sure is the hardware quality issue.

I always thought Sony is a high quality brand, after this experience, i might as well invest in a lower end brand with give 3 years warranty like TCL or Prism+. Do you guys have any recommendation?
Hi I’ve the same issue as yours. Did you manage to get yours resolved?

Saw Bravia 3 at shop just now. Looks good! Not expensive as well. If I'm fine with 60hz, I'll get one.
Display set (1 month) for 75" Bravia 7 selling $3999 at BD Bedok Mall.
I'm likely going for 85X90J, K or L though.

does sony warranty cover dead pixel? I have a 65X85J having a black line appearing at the bottom of the screen, already booked appointment. Lucky their warranty is 3 years but wonder how they going to fix it.

Since your usage includes using it as PC monitor, please be aware the X900H does not support full 4K resolution at 120hz. Due to hardware limitation of the Mediatek SoC at the time, it displays only halved the vertical 4K resolution as reported by several reviewers, the first one being Vincent (This issue has affected TVs from different brands using the same Mediatek SoC, not just Sony):

If we're on a budget and are looking for a decent Sony TV *with Local Dimming, the options would be:

65" X95L | VA Panel | 480 Local Dimming Zones | X-Wide Angle Filter (The lowest price I've seen was around $3150 for the 65" on clearance but that was a few weeks ago, it might be challenging to find one now.)
Brand new: $3150+-
Display Set: $2900+-

65" Bravia 7 | VA Panel | 480 Local Dimming Zones (The lowest price for this seen for the 65" was $3100, during a special sale 2 weeks ago)
Brand new: $3100
Display Set: -

65" X90L | VA Panel | 80 Local Dimming Zones (The lowest price seen was $1950, during NDP - Black Friday period last year) I've not been keeping track of the price this year, hopefully the price drops further.
Brand new: $1950
Display Set: -

These prices were quoted at major electronic stores e.g Courts, Harvey Norman, Best Denki.

X90L can still be a decent TV (if priced reasonably) and since you were considering the X95J, the X90L is slightly similar to the performance of the X95J in some areas of picture quality better or worse as seen in RTINGS reviews here:
https://www.rtings.com/tv/tools/com...x90l-x90cl/21566/39008?usage=1&threshold=0.10
Though the last known lowest price is still higher than the other brands offering MiniLEDs, if it is priced at $1950 (the last known lowest price) or lower than that and if we take into account the better out of the box color accuracy, EOTF tracking, motion processing, better review coverage from reputable reviews (both RTINGS and HDTVTest), it can still be considered a good deal. Warranty and after sales handling can be another thing to consider between brands.

As for the Parallel Importer, I've seen one known as SevaMall and have visited their showroom/warehouse at the Boon Lay/Pandan Loop area. From what I saw in person, the boxes seemed to be not in tip top condition, and some are opened while the owner seems to be claiming it was brand new. It could be display sets or returned units, but these are just assumptions. If that is the importer you're considering getting the set from, it would be best to visit their warehouse and inspect the unit in person before purchase, up to your discretions.

Additionally, since you're a PC user, X90L supports full 4:4:4 chroma subsampling at 4K 120hz (Genuine 4K with no halved vertical resolution unlike the X900H) while the TCL and Hisense (SG Variants) do not (if what their respective sales rep informed me was accurate. I enquired this during one of the IT shows last year and they were checking among themselves and calling up presumably an engineer and both said "No support"). For the TCL C845 it has even been confirmed by Vincent from HDTVTest in his review that it failed to support full 4:4:4 chroma subsampling at 4K 120hz. Hence this is another win for the X90L if you will be using it as a PC Monitor with at least an RTX 3000 series gpu or higher (the ones with HDMI 2.1 ports).

The Sony TV that's quite attractive this year (affordability wise IF it drops within the $2k price point) is the Bravia 7. It has the new 22-bit micro circuit backlight driver and local dimming algorithm found in the flagship Bravia 9, though with 3x less zones at 480 putting it at the same zone count as the X95L but at an even lower price (at the expense of no Wide Angle Filter and Anti Reflection Coating). Most importantly Bravia 7 has the new Mediatek Pentonic 1000 SoC. This is very likely to allow both the Bravia 7 and 9 to be the first 2 Sony LCD TVs to display full 4:4:4 chroma subsampling at 4K 120hz with HDR enabled (Wait for Vincent from HDTVTest to confirm this in his review, RTINGS doesn't test for this currently). The A95L which also uses the new Pentonic 1000 SoC has been reviewed and discovered by Vincent to support this.

Before this, none of the Sony LCD TVs were able to achieve full 4:4:4 chroma subsampling at 4K 120hz with HDR enabled due to hardware limitation as discovered by Vincent from HDTVTest in his review of the X90L and X95L. Hence if you're a PC user and you wish to use the TV as a HDR Display with the HDR setting enabled, the Bravia 7 can achieve this (Wait for Vincent to confirm) while the X95L and X90L fails to do so (they only do 4K 120hz full 4:4:4 chroma with HDR disabled).

Since the Bravia 7 can already be found at $3.1k during negotiations quite early in its launch, there is quite a possibility that it will drop to the $2xxx region in the last quarter of the year. Hope to see it somewhere between $2.1k - $2.5k.

Great write up

Was looking at the XR-75X90L just now at BD

Seems quite good and impressive when paired with the HT-A5000 sound bar as it can use the TV as the centre speaker as well

The SA was willing to lower the price down to S$3999 for me - is that a good deal cos when i see the US price, the price differential is quite large though

Just enquired at Best Denki VivoCity. 75X90L going for 3399, full array LED. Very tempting. Will check out at COMEX this weekend before making a decision. Bad thing is Best Denki can only hold 2 months before delivery. Not sure if this is negotiable.
So cheap? I was just quoted 3999 for the 75X90L at BD GWC

I recently enquired it's around 3499-3599 brand new not display from Harvey Norman.
Display Harvey Norman Suntec can give 2999 (1yo).

BD Vivo I enquired about 3-4months ago in May.

Thanks, $3999 for the 75" X90L does not seem reasonable if we consider that the 65" X90L can be had for $1950 during certain sale periods. That's basically halved the price of the 75" they've quoted you (you can literally buy two 65" X90L for the price of one 75" X90L). A more reasonable price would be around the $2.8k - $2.5k range (+/-) for the 75" X90L. Unfortunately, Sony Singapore charges a higher premium than the U.S and even Malaysia.

The trick here is to check once or twice per week (especially since we are in the last quarter of the year where the sales are usually better), for a few weeks at multiple stores until you're quoted the price you're after / a reasonable price. If you've missed a sale, wait for the subsequent few weeks and the price is likely to drop again (usually this is the case from what I've monitored last year where prices decrease and increase and then decrease again, quite rapidly to give a false sense of urgency).

The Bravia 7 65" latest lowest price I've seen is at $2.5K (Best Denki, Courts, Harvey Norman). If it drops to around $2K - $2.3K in the subsequent weeks, it is going to be an even attractive buy. And if the 65" Bravia 7 is at $2.3K, it is likely the 75" would be closer behind the 75" X90L (slightly more expensive than the X90L 75"). If you were considering the X90L 75" at $4000sgd, the 75" Bravia 7 will be within your budget at the $3k-$4k range.

Wow, thanks

The listed price on the set was $4299 - same with the Sony's own online store

I was looking at the US prices and our premium here is nearly 50%

Thanks again, most insightful (y)

My current setup is the Samsung 65" curve and replacing it with a 65" flat seems like a "downgrade" in terms of perceived real estate :(

Hence my preference for a 75" (also the max due to space constraint)

I will also keep the Bravia 7 in mind - does seem to be better than the X90L (BD's pricing is a bit steeper when I was browsing there yesterday)

65X90L is S$2299 iirc at Harvey Norman.

@Kepller is correct. The jump from 65" to 75" is a huge leap. But we cannot count 10" based on paper numbers. The screen size difference between 65" and 75" is huge, and even larger between 75" to 85".

I also agree that $3499 is still a bit rich, if they can do $3-3.2k it will be a good buy. Still quite hesitant.

Yes, 3.5k is still quite steep - can easily get a Samsung 75" at 1k cheaper

I was exploring Sony due to its ability to use its speaker with its soundbar (I was looking at the HT-A5000) but can also pay a bit more for a good sound bar and still end up being cheaper overall :p

Which model for Samsung? They are not known to have cheap TVs though. LG maybe.

X90L although is not mini led but full array, somehow it outperforms in my opinion, other QLEDs. It also has a higher / faster refresh rate at 120hz compared to similar price range for LGs (60hz).

Yes, Sony has 4 speakers (1 on each side and 2 bottom firing) compared to standard 2 bottom firing for other brands. I have an existing soundbar and bass module from Bose so I will link up with it.
