No every time it break down gov will still get blamed cos they privatize it

but they will push away the blame and oneself think oneself no fault when everyone feel it is their fault, and then cycle repeats

that is ivory tower
Still, it is easy to find a scapegoat.

Most pri school kids go to school via walking/school bus/car
Anyway national exams got provision for MRT breakdown even before this incident happen

Can reach own pri sch b4 paper ends -> given full duration to sit for paper
Cannot reach own pri sch in time b4 paper ends -> can take at nearest exam centre (other pri schools) and given full duration too

Use crane, problem is the ground too soft.

Detach the last 2 carriages that was derailed, then lift these 2 carriages off to a trailer 1 by 1. Send by road back to the depot. The front should still be on the track, just tow it away.

this one kym?

Hydraulics will work to lift up the carriage(s). But the additional problem is that segment of rail and power cable + (3rd) power rail are also damaged, so it's pointless to move the damaged carriage back. Also, the carriages have to be removed so that the damaged rail segments can be repaired/replaced. So the best arrangement for faulty carriage is to detach it from the tracks, then move it onto a trailer.

If the surrounding ground is too soft and/or not flat for the crane to be on, I guess we may be looking at a potential solution of airlifting it. I guess Chinook has enough max weight capacity to lift it? After all, it can airlift ("sling load") an aircraft (A-7K Corsair II, basic mass @ 9,196 kg) as shown in the video below.

If anybody is still wondering, Powertrip is the official reason given by smrt to prevent people from panicking or something but real reason is a first generation C151 train derailing outside ulu pandan depot (between clementi and jurong east), causing a power trip there and a train at clementi to start vaping and the tracks outside the depot to be damaged with the train still stuck there.

Structure damage to track line need long period of time to repair.Even cranes come in to hoist the train takes time.

Train experts can comment?

First the the train needs to be towed off or crane out?

Next comes the testing of the track between those stations, assuming this can only be done when service ends.

Mr Lim Tien Hock, chief executive officer of SBS Transit’s so early 5.30am is on the ground to make sure that things are moving smoothly.”

Demand for buses

At Buona Vista, the demand for buses saw the formation of long queues stretching nearly 100m. Those at the end of the line appeared clueless as to where to go. Crowds gathered around SMRT staff who were giving directions. Police officers were also present, with some helping to also give directions.

Mr Lim Tien Hock, chief executive officer of SBS Transit’s (SBST) bus business, was also seen at Buona Vista station directing buses and commuters.

He told ST: “For SBST, we are supporting the bus bridging (services) for the disruption of the EWL, in support of the Land Transport Authority and SMRT.

“Because our buses are also deployed here to provide the bus bridging from Buona Vista to Jurong East, I thought I would also like to be here (as my guys are also on the ground) to make sure that things are moving smoothly.”

Mr Lim said he arrived at around 5.30am, before the first train’s departure at 6.16am, to make sure things were in place and that SBST’s buses arrived on time and queues were well-managed.

Checks by ST on ride-hailing platforms such as Grab, ComfortDelGro and Gojek at 7.15am showed that a ride from Jurong East MRT to Buona Vista MRT – which are three stops apart – cost between $24 and $31.

Rides from Buona Vista and Jurong East to Tanjong Pagar cost around $16 to $24 and $36 to $42 respectively.

By 8.30am, as the rain worsened, prices had surged to between $38 and $42.

A ride from Buona Vista to Tanjong Pagar cost around $25 to $37, while one from Jurong East to Tanjong Pagar cost around $35 to $60.

As at 9.50am, bookings via Gojek and Grab to Buona Vista MRT stations could not go through. Gojek had a pop-up that said: “There’s an emergency in this area”, while Grab said the area was “inaccessible due to public event”.
