Pritam’s lawyer says Raeesah Khan is contradicting herself

Mr Andre Jumabhoy says it is “frankly contradictory” that on the one hand, Ms Raeesah Khan said Pritam Singh’s advice to her was to maintain her lie if she was not pressed, but on the other hand, to say that Singh had told her he would not judge her if she continued her narrative.

Deputy Attorney-General Ang Cheng Hock interjects that it has to be made clear that the defence was referring to evidence from Aug 8, 2021, when he had been questioning Ms Khan about her meeting with Singh on Oct 3.

Mr Jumabhoy rephrases the question, and asks whether her recollection of what Singh had told her was contradictory.

Ms Khan says it was not contradictory, as Singh had gone to her house on Oct 3 and said he would not judge her for continuing her narrative.

“So that’s just the development of the conversation,” she adds.

school can try to teach.

but no school can ever teach a kid whose parents can't motivate their kid to learn, take an interest in things, to dig deeper, self-research, etc.

yah, parents are still the main factor. i dun like to blame schools for everything. after all, according to syllables, academic exercises and homework are teachers way of imparting and assessing learnt knowledge.

but parents nowadays dun wan kid to do so many homework or pick up additional classes cos "will affect their childhood".

yah, unproductive play whole f**k day until become epic kumgong who cannot string anything higher than a 1 + 1 and not knowing what does + really mean.
Over pampered liao.

Defence says Raeesah's Oct 4 text to Pritam Singh provides ground for impeachment, prosecutor argues otherwise

Ms Raeesah Khan's Oct 4, 2021, text to Pritam Singh is "materially contradictory" to the evidence she provided in court, says Mr Andre Jumabhoy.

Deputy Attorney-General Ang Cheng Hock argues that the text is aligned with the gist of her evidence.

Ms Khan did not receive the confirmation she said she wanted from Singh, and continued to maintain the lie. "She just followed his existing advice," says DAG Ang.

The court has to look at all circumstances, and not just the text, to decide if Ms Khan should be impeached, says DAG Ang. Relying on just the text is "completely inappropriate", he adds. He speaks quickly.

"I would say that there is no material discrepancy," he says, adding that the grounds for impeachment have not been met.

Raeesah Khan steps out of the courtroom as defence makes an application for impeachment

The judge asks Ms Raeesah Khan to leave the courtroom as Pritam Singh’s lawyers make an application for her impeachment.

The defence brings up Ms Khan’s testimony about why she felt the need to keep up the lie, in which she said she was terrified and that Singh had seemed supportive.

Mr Andre Jumabhoy continues that Ms Khan had said Singh did not respond to her message on Oct 4, 2021, asking for advice and she did not know what to do.

The Deputy AG is very scared that Raeesah will be impeached, if that happens it means he can no longer use her testimony to fix Pritam liao.

of course.

Her testimony is the only direct evidence they have.
if her testimony is not accepted, then all that's left is circumstantial and hear say evidence.
Will be very hard to secure a conviction.

usually it is the girls who are problematic imo because guys at least got NS to knock sense into them about reality

and many parents tend to pamper their daughters and scared to be the "bad parent" to enforce discipline

‘I don’t see a contradiction, let alone a material contradiction’: Judge Tan

Deputy Principal District Judge Luke Tan reads the agreed statement of facts (SOF), and tells the counsels that he tends to agree with the prosecution that Ms Raeesah Khan’s response to the question on why she did not tell the truth could not be read in isolation as there is a lead-up to it.

He says he does not think there is a dispute that a discussion was made on Oct 3, as the SOF states Pritam Singh had visited Ms Khan at her home.

He adds that it seems Ms Khan was confronted specifically by Law and Home Affairs Minister K. Shanmugam and that prompted her to send the message to Singh.

Judge Tan notes that it could be argued that Ms Khan’s response is consistent with what she said Singh had told her earlier.

“I do not see a contradiction, let alone a material contradiction,” he says.

what should I do. but was there proof to show P messages her to do stuff they not suppose to do? If not, then no evidences how to trap P. All along this case should not have escalate to court since there was never proof that P told RK to do something they not suppose to do.

it was based on RS words against P words which under court should be unsubstantiated in the abscene of evidence. if they really managed to turn white to black and fault P then our court is really kangaroo ****.
