my 5gbps installation completed yesterday. speedtest with my old huawei ax3000 (living room). my wireless pc with ax200 in my room (3m + 1 concrete wall). got only 600-700mbps. not much real upgrade from old 500mbps plan, which get 400+mbps.

my xiaomi be5000 just came. tested same pc got 1400-1500mbps. now my room, even toilet min 500mbps instead of double digit. jin happy, my family also jin happy now.

Isn't ONR a better option? If one day I get a WIFI 7 router, I will just bypass the ONR to the router.

For the XS-240X-A XGS-PON ONT, only the 10G LAN port is working. The other ports are not enabled.

Nothing much you can do with the ONT, no point to log in.

1. Quick comparison of ONT vs ONR.
ONT --> you can use your own router to its full ability.

ONR --> it will be the main router of your home network. ONR will usually have limited FW features. The usual recommendation is to set your own router in AP mode to avoid Double NAT when using ONR. In that case, you lose major FW features of your own router. Power users will usually avoid ONR.

2. But if you do not care about the FW feature of your own router and you only care about wireless performance, then no issues to get the ONR option.

3. More about Double NAT:

4. Asus router in AP mode: many FW features will not work, including AIProtection, Paretntal Control, Firewall, and VPN server/client function.

isit possible to bridge the nokia ONR?

Yes if you catch the one time super-admin password during the installation --> it is said that the password is shown on the installer's screen. But take note the Starhub SOP prevents the installer to tell you the password. If you happen to see the password in the screen, then that is okay. If you do not see the screen, then that is it.

Since you are asking, I guess you care about the issue of ONT vs ONR. No point to take the risk -- just go with the ONT option in this case.

Haha I just signed up this morning and thinking was it me only. Anyway, after signing up the ONT deal, a sales rep called me to confirm the installation date

Both her and a live chat cs through WhatsApp I spoken to said the NLT one time charge of $61.04 will be waived off automatically and the monthly costs of $29.55 remain the same even after 24 months

Note that I am a new StarHub customer

Very nice. It is great to have Black and White agreement in WhatsApp. I will suggest you to screnshot to keep it as a record in case they send you the bills later with the NLT charges.

This is a superb deal!

Yes, that should be possible.

One example configuration
ONR 10G port --> 1G/2.5G/10G wired device if any (say for the future), say in the study room
ONR 1G port --> RT-AX88U in AP mode, say in the living room
ONR 1G port --> 1G wired device if any, say in the main bedroom
ONR 1G port --> not used

You may not need to disable the WiFi of the ONR and just use two SSIDs.

The above is a quick mod of the Starhub ONR mesh solution.

Yes! Thanks to your reminder I just screenshot haha.

A picture is worth a thousand words, I just found out I can finally share images haha.

First pic below shows there’s indeed a $61.04 charge and the sales rep through WhatsApp pointed to “Service Activation Fee Waiver for home broadband_100%” (see red arrow) and it stated as “-“ which indicates the charge will be automatically waived off

Second pic below shows the monthly costs of $29.55 (see red arrow). I asked if the monthly costs will be revised after 24 months. She said no, reason being if the $29.55 is a promotional price for a certain period and has a usual price, it would be stated clearly somewhere but in this case it only reflected the $29.55 monthly subscription cost. Thus, we will continue to pay $29.55 after 24 months

Thanks to xiaofan and those who shared the link multiple times to this community that we can sign up for this superb deal! 😊

3.What is the price of UltraSpeed 5Gbps and UltraSpeed 10Gbps after the 24 months contract period?

There will be no change in customers monthly subscription price for UltraSpeed 5Gbps and UltraSpeed 10Gbps even after the 24 months contract period. Customers will continue to enjoy at the same price as per the first 24 months.

This is better than M1. M1 3Gbps plan original price is $65, which is double of StarHub 5Gbps plan. So this StarHub 5Gbps @ $29.55 is actually a very good deal if plan continue to use after contract finish.
