As a concerned citizen, I am compelled to express my growing unease about the Singapore Government's ability to lead our country. I feel that their response to criticisms sometimes comes across as dismissive, which makes me wonder if they are truly engaged with the concerns of citizens.

They may argue that only they possess the necessary expertise and knowledge, and that their critics lack understanding. But I believe that true competence is revealed in a leader's ability to address everyday issues that affect people's lives. If our leaders cannot show that they care about and can solve the everyday problems that affect our lives, then I question their fitness to lead.

I believe the public's feedback on these genuine concerns are being ignored.

  • Dangerous Driving: The government's reluctance to toughen penalties for drink driving and other reckless behaviors on the road - such as beating red light, not giving way at pedestrian crossings - is alarming.

  • Pedestrian Safety: Planting greeneries at pedestrian crossings has created hazardous blind spots.

  • Personal Mobility Aids and E-Bikes: The lack of regulation for PMAs and e-bikes on pathways has led to fires and property damage, and inconvenience to pedestrians.

  • Public Bus Safety: Recent accidents involving public buses are unsettling.

If the government can't even be bothered to solve these problems, do you think they're truly listening to you? Worse, does your life even matter to them? Remember, all of the above only affects you - the ordinary man on the street.

I agreed on your point 3, nowadays walling on footpath is as dangerous as crossing the Rd with fake handicaps

We, the ordinary people, deserve better than just being pacified with meaningless handouts.

Lee Kuan Yew built Singapore for Singaporeans, but now it seems they are building it for foreigners.

Handouts breed complacency. Singapore's focus has shifted from its citizens to foreigners.

What makes you think they are not acting? It takes time to plan changes.

I understand that livelihood concerns are pressing, but dismissing life-and-death issues like dangerous driving as 'minor' overlooks the gravity of the problem. If the government struggles to address seemingly smaller issues that directly impact citizen safety, how can we trust them to tackle broader, more complex challenges?

Safety is paramount: Neglecting dangerous driving sets a disturbing precedent for prioritizing citizens' well-being. Road accidents have devastating consequences. Effective governance demands proactive solutions.

Competence concerns: Failing to address smaller, critical issues raises doubts about the government's ability to handle larger, more intricate problems.

If I am not wrong, someone from the government once said to their opponent along the lines of "If you cannot handle x, then you cannot handle y".
