Will the food price be less inflated?

I was in a discussion with a group of friends today. Some of them are foodies and quite good with cooking. They are bouncing off ideas on home based food selling. There is less of a concern of hyper inflated rental, though still have to meet sfa and hdb requirements. Really is selling food based on their interest and enough to survive.

Not very feasible also. I got think of it before. But home cooked food ingredients are more ex than outside. If you want to be competitive, is almost no pay for yourself… utilities also not cheap.
Unless super passionate won’t do for long

Will the health authority make safety and hygiene checks on such home based food selling units? Or have to wait for food poisoning to happen before taking actions?

Will make kitchen oily and greasy if need to cook in bulk. Maybe smaller quantities still viable

on the contrary, food prices will be even higher.
they will sell at restaurant prices coz they think their cooking is above hawker level.
So, hawker will suddenly become affordable relative to the homecook version.

we have seen countless examples...
from cakes, to snacks, to coffee, to ice creams...

all will say they hand picked ingredients... they choose finest quality... they got fusion this and that..
some CSB story to boot up why they are doing it etc.

hawker food is really unhealthy and ingredients is the cheapest so it's not an apple to apple comparison. the quality of most coffeeshop zichar has degraded to the extent that one could learn to cook at home, and after a few attempts, you will cook nicer fried rice than your local zichar.
