I disagree with Senior PM Lee; singles should be allowed to buy 2-room BTO flats in non-mature areas.

How can I start a family with just a 2-room BTO flat? More rooms are essential. There needs to be a change—singles should be allowed to buy 3-room and 4-room BTO flats in mature areas, as well as prime, standard, and Plus housing types, so singles can easily start a family.

Usual BS , limited flats and limited space.

Its straight up BS.

Why do folk still fall for this nonsense.

In the esteemed SM opinion , why does he believe there are limited flats when it would seem there are many folk who own mulitple properties, which implies there are enough for everyone.

Maybe too many of the wrong flats built.

The number is not the issue

Cos of demand and supply but another issue

if singles do buy the bto like u suggest and still never marry or start a family (unfortunately it can be one or the other and not necessarily both), then how?

Now u have even higher housing prices as singles try to benefit after Mop and still no babies.

Unless u make people sign contracts then there will be people who say no one wants me except my pet dog mybfd

Cos there are people who like to say pay me more and I will do this and this then after the pay is given they don’t do it. Either u terminate them or reduce pay but it’s gonna be ugly

Just make it illegal to own more than one property.

Then we will see if there is a genuine "lack of supply"

I partly disagree with you. There are sufficient for everyone but not the kind that people want. It’s like there are not enough coes to go around which implies that there are insufficient cars for everyone but it’s not true. Go to any second hand car market and there are cars for sale with coe already there.

it’s just not the kind of cars people want

But an interesting question would be what they simply stopped building 2 room BTO and the minimum size is 3 room? Beyond the extra cost, how much more space is actually required? If I build a ten floor block of 2 room BTO, maybe instead of that build 15 floors of 3 room BTO (same number of units so space is bigger per unit but absolute land space used is the same)?

Beyond the selling price, what is the limiting factor?

Just look around your own neighborhood, at night still half the lights don't come on, who knows whether really got people living in it or not.
