Thanks for input bro!

I called KTPH n they told me molar is ard 1.2k++ onwards. With referral letter from polyclinic (any medical gp will do), a further subsidy of 200++ is applicable... Prob is, earliest slot is June... sianz 1/2

Im semi retired so going for a few trips jalan jalan look c look c is fine w me..

Just called up Wong Endodontics (14c Jln Harimau), and was quoted 1.6 - 2k for molar (excl crowning of cos...). The specialist was referred by E&E before, for my other tooth last yr (din follow up as most dentists in sg suggested I implant straightaway).

Weird enuff, the recept insisted tht clinic needs referral letter - either jb or sg. Ask y, she said doctor will refer back for crowning instructions or sthg...

Not sure if the quote is too good to be true.. Not much google review/s. Will try n update more..

Just a quick update to my own post - got a bro asked me for opinion hence...

The molar tooth which local GP claimed 'possibly hairline crack' was diagnosed by him as 'gum related issue'. Feeling skeptical, I double checked with JDental & ProDental (both specialists), and they agreed with his examination. Perhaps the circle among JB specialists is very small, both seem to have heard about him quite well - esp his characteristic character... Or perhaps skills?

His reviews on google were very much polarized.

I had him worked on my other molar tooth (RCT) which other GD dentists (E&E, Koh Dental) claimed not worth salvaging. Total damage rm2.2k nett, excl crowning (3 trips altogether).

I went back to E&E for crowning and the doctor felt the RCT was nicely done up. Btw, he was the specialist recommended by E&E initially.

Unless you have a very challenging tooth (endodontic) condition, I won't recommend going with him. You have to tahan his sarcastic suan: "you can walk out my clinic anytime if you don't like my treatment ya..." - esp right after payments were made... But I must admit his skills are really not bad... You can't feel much when he applied anesthesia (I usually use this to gauge the skill of dentists); and I almost felt asleep during the RCT treatment - partly I was quite tired too..

His clinic setup cmi, esp the toilet... I thought I traveled back to the 70s.

Anyone encounter have to redo root canel treatment for the teeth that had done root canel before?

Today went polyclinic to do filling coz the teeth got part chipped off. Dentist did a x scan and mentioned the root area like have infection, might need to redo root canel treatment again.

Anyone did root canel in jb clinic before? What is the price like? I might want to go in to get 2nd opinion to see is it necessary to redo root canel treatment
I am in the middle of my root canal treatment at prodental (2 out of 3).

Dr Chung is highly recommended. He was very detailed and meticulous. The only pain I experienced was the anaesthetic injection, after that I even fell asleep during the procedure.

For root canal, better to have a specialist do it. Prodental charges RM$3000.

For Crown, I will do it elsewhere

I am ending my braces treatment with E&E soon, they are good. Young bunch of dentists. Reasonably priced.
Pls share more details on braces like type of braces used and estimated total cost.
Are places like E&E cheaper and better than Alpha @ KSL?
In JB. Metal braces are Damon brand and clear Damon (shd be local brand). Invisible one are Invisalign & Angel Aligners & Clear Correct.

I think I shared before a few pages before.

But TLDR, my treatment is about 1y3-6mths long, 7500RM all in self ligating braces (not damon brand). You put a downpayment follow by monthly instalment of 400RM until you finish your treatment.

If your treatment takes shorter time than expected, then you finish the remaining payment on the last visit. Similarly, if your treatment takes longer than expected, you pay until 7500RM full and subsequent visits is "free".

I had my dentist transferred my case to 1 of the co-founder (husband and wife duo) because she left to another practice after 9months. The clinic is generally well staffed with 8-9 dentists.

Bad thing is I only have weekends available and they serve quite a number of sinkies, so timeslots on weekends can be quite challenging to fix. Moreover for routine follow up cases like me who needs to go in every 3-4 weeks.

If you doing just quick scaling polishing then it's easier to play around with timing and dates since you don't have a "fixed" date to go back and adjust the wires.

All in all equipment are clean, professional, well equipped. They know what they are doing.

iirc their invisalign is around 14-20k+ (depending on severity, got 3 tiers of package, lite / standard / whatever you call the max tier).

Below is the Historical Background of @ZacharyA's exploring braces with E&E.
Will update this later into E&E's Experiences.

August 2023
I just visited E&E Dental yesterday. It started off with a low and ended with a high.

I arrived 10mins before my appointment time of 11am, and registration was a breeze which took only about 3minutes. Thereafter, I was ushered to the waiting area which is situated somewhere in the middle of the clinic, leading to the other side with a row of cubicles (I think they have 8 surgery rooms at least).

Shortly after I sat in the sofa (5 mins before appointment time). A young lady sat right next to me and waited for her turn as well. At this point, I do not know which dentist will I be seeing since this is my first visit and I did not indicate any preference.

Come 11am, a patient in the nearest room came out and the dental assistant called for the lady who was beside me shortly thereafter. I waited for a further 5-10mins, before going back to the receptionist to check which dentist will I be seeing today (yesterday). She said it will be Dr C. And that was the same dentist that was treating the patient who just left, and the young lady who just entered. I was bummed. I came earlier, but someone potong jalan my Q!

To clarify, my initial appointment was 11.30am but they came back to me late Saturday to request if I am able to bring forward my appointment to 11am in which I obliged. I was initially under the impression that someone cancelled last minute or wanted to postpone 30mins later (to switch slots with me). In any event, the person whom I was liaising with via WhatsApp knew that my intention was to consult for teeth alignment correction aka braces treatment and presumably will take a longer time than a standard scaling / polishing procedure.

Long story short, it was only until 11.20am before it is my turn to enter. I initially thought it will be a rush and botched consultation and just end it quickly to accommodate their next patience. I had my worse case scenario thought out in my head. But I was pleasantly surprised that the dentist took her time to understand my concerns, what are my priorities with regards to the treatment (costs, aesthetics, timeline), what method should I be open to and took her time to examine my teeth, did a light cleaning before taking a 3D scan follow by X-Ray to discuss if there were any potential decay of sorts. whether I had extracted my wisdom teeth before (I did, during my NS days :D:whistle:)

my session ended somewhere closed to 12noon and settlement took less than 5mins before I was off to KSL to run other errands.

Throughout the entire process, the staff (dentist and receptionist and other assistants) were very polite, the dentist know her **** and explained very clearly and patiently. Clinic is also very big with a team of dentists, very clean and equipment are very new.

Highly recommended. However, their price might not be cheapest and definitely not the most expensive. I would say it is reasonable.

fyi, regarding transport, you can take a Grab / Taxi which is a no brainer or bus. But for bus, the nearest place you should alight is still a "considerable" walk which is about 300-400m away from Opp Plaza Pelangi. I took the standard F100 to KSL to have my breakfast first before walking over. It really isn't difficult to find the place if you know how to use Google maps and just walk slowly. It is a downward slope from KSL to E&E Dental but when you are walking back, it will be a climb. About 2 flights of steps and follow by some incline gradient before sloping down to KSL Coffee Bean entrance. roughly about 500m and I only took 5-6mins to walk from KSL to E&E
Have not finalised on the approach. Invisalign Lite Package (14 sets of aligners + extra 14 sets) going for 9000-10000 as they are having a discount. Regular price is 13k. Moderate and Severe package will be in the region of 16k onwards.

Self Ligating (unsure if it is Damon brand) will be 7500 all in.

My 3D scan proved to be a little challenging to fit under the Lite package but she will send in my results to Invisalign for them to assess and come back before we have a video call to decide how to proceed.

CH TEE can just walk in… for scaling and polishing
Read this
The clinic doesn't take appointments except for ongoing treatments.

Initially I too was feeling inconvenience but then I spoke to my ex classmate who is a dentist & he said this:
The advantage of group practice is having dentists who are good in a particular field of treatment and being assigned accordingly is certainly good for the patient!

I understood what he was saying...

If a clinic has a mix of newly hired & experience dentists, it is better to regulate the traffic.

"Oh...6 monthly checkup? No other issue right? Let's see ... Maybe Dr Teng,... he's friendly & bubbly....& good looking too 😉"

"Pain huh?...I think Dr Ramakrishnan is good at that. He's our expert in pain trauma...you won't feel a thing."

So Dental CH Tee assigns the best available dentists for the patients' needs/urgencies instead of an appointment.
