I think the 6th gen aircrafts are to target Guam.

Likely it has a combo of fighting and bombing capabilities. You don't just fly to Guam to fight, right? You need to bomb those bustards there ah

No fighter jets can fly from Guam to China and vice versa be they of US or China planes. They need air-to-air refilling. The huge and slow air tanker is a flying duck easy target. It needs to be escorted by fighter jets for protection. Even then it's still an easy target. This plane can also serves as escort for H-20 bomber (yet to release) without the need of air tanker.

Looking at the design of the chinese 6th gen plane you can see it's size is about twice of that of the accompanying J-20S implying it's meant to carry more fuel for long distance flight, more ammo for greater firepower and with 3 engines to fly near space so land arty and missiles unlikely to hit it.
