Seeing M1 Facebook and reddit horrible customer service, can help share how to successfully end my broadband contract with M1 ?

My contract end date is 28 Feb 2025 but billing cycle is from (11th of current month to 10th of next month). When should I start engaging them to end contract? And will there be prorated refund?..

Thanks 🙏

aiya i used m1 bb from 2008 until now. customer service is bad now. i am thinking of switching to whizcomms in april 2025.

advise to give more than a month notice, roughly from 20 Jan 2025 to M1 BB hotline, get confirmation of the CS that she /he has noted the termination of contract on 28 Feb 2025.

Asus China version has both Chinese and English UI.

https://forums.hardwarezone.com.sg/...-tuf-ax5400-rt-ax5400-and-tuf-ax4200.6315347/
2. Note: Asus China version vs Local version
They are basically the same HW and same FW, just different country code. The country code can not be changed as it is outside of the FW area. The country code will decide the minor differences in the behaviours.

Major difference:
Local version has three years HW warranty. China version will have no local warranty.

Minor differences in terms of FW behaviours:
1) China version has Chinese/English Web UI
2) China version may have specific game accelerator (网易 UU 加速器), just ignore it.
3) China version may ping Baidu for web monitoring but you can change the behavior.
4) Some China version routers may have special Web UI skins like Asus TX-AX6000, which is a bit different from local version TUF-AX6000.
5) China version has wireless region default to China, but you can usually change to Asia region to be compliant to local regulation.
6) Some reports say that Asus Instant Guard VPN may not work with Asus China routers.
How to change #3 and #5?

Once you buy the router you will know.

An exception for #5 is TUF-BE6500. Current FW only allows selection of China (lower TX power) and Australia (higher TX power) region for wireless. I tend to believe future FW will fix it.

Example from Asus RT-AX86U China version.

#3: Administration --> System

You can change the Resolve Hostname to the host you like, for example, www.google.com. Default is Baidu.

The default ping target is also Baidu, but you can change to the target you like, for example, Google DNS 8.8.8.8.

#5: Wireless --> Professional

Just sharing experience... went to Nex M1 shop to cancel broadband and port over fixed line number....
M1 shop does not do cancellation.... Advise to call 1627 to do it...
cannot cancel broadband first if you want to port over fixed line number to your new service provider...

starhub can remove the promotion anytime it wants. after 2 years, maybe the promotion no more already.

You mean the price after 2 years contract would go back up to more than 29.55? If so, then you should take a read of the contract for the ONT plan, it doesn't seem to allow them to do it except for relying on the generic "reserve the rights".

Also, as with technology, the price of these will come down as technology advances. The current GPON plan likely could be sunseted eventually, and would not be surprised if they start exiting customers if they choose not to switch to XGSPON.

A good recent enough example is the switching off of 2G, then followed by 3G. Same with the switch off of analogue television transmission in favour of dvbt2.

Currently using M1 500mbps @$30+. if I were to change it to viewcomms 2.5gbps @ $24/mth,
any catch I need to consider? Or is an obvious upgrade?

yes. no need to return anything to M1 when you cancel it :)

1) No point at all for new users.
It is not cheap for new customers because of NLT charge and installation fee.
https://whizcomms.com.sg/2-5gbps-broadband/

$54.50 WhizComms Installation Fee and $61.04 NetLink Trust Activation Fee apply.

2) If you want to move out M1 500Mbps, you can look at the options here in Singapore ISP comparison thread, including Starhub 5Gbps special offer at S$29.55 per month. Quite a few M1 500Mbps/1Gbps users move to that plan.

Thanks for the advice, I'll try their online live agent 1st (just to make sure there's black and white). Went to M1 shop and the staff attitude are terrible, brushed me off saying "we don't do termination here". But they can do recontract lol.
