Even the low cost S$192 TP-Link HB710 can reach pretty high WiFii 7 speed -- using my own test results with Acer Swift Go 14 2024 laptop (Intel Core Ultra 125H CPU, 16GB RAM, 1TB SSD, Killer BE1750 WiFi 7 adapter baswd on Intel BE200 chipset).

What is your WiFi 6 client used for testing?

If your WiFi 6 client and router supports 160MHz channel bandwidth, you should be able to get >1Gbps wireless speed at close range.

Nokia XS-2426X-A ONR (AX6000 wireless) does support 160MHz channel bandwidth. Henry Ng mentioned that he could get up to 1.6Gbps WiFi speed using the ONR.

I am using a WiFi 7 client to test, could not get much higher than 600mbps. Check that my MX4200 doesn't support 160mhz so the ONR seem better than the MX4200 I got.

For those who have signed up with Starhub, did they come to your place to check on the termination point?

I got my link sorted out … able to see the appointment booking date now.

Did not book the appointment date yet because I was thinking might be cheaper to find someone looking to offload their EB810V and/or HB710 instead of buying from Starhub … I am amazed that all those selling are pricing them higher than what Starhub is selling them for … and I am wondering, how the heck is anyone thinking they might be able to flip these for like $4xx for an EB810V or $250 and above for a HB710 :s22: I mean, Starhub even offers installment that works out to the exact same price as buying it as a one-time full payment, the only reason to buy it from someone offloading would be if it was cheaper than Starhub, no? :s22:

My router just GG yesterday, on the last day of contract so I do need a router. At first want to sign up ONR option to tong for next 2 years but after seeing all the speed test here and compare with my own, decide to just go for a better setup.

I agree with your statement that ONR is better than your MX4200, hmm.... u can easily replace the MX4200 with newer higher performance Wifi router yourself anytime, how about replacing the ONR?

Already bought HB710, excellent speed and WiFi coverage. I was reading reviews and it seems like the MX4200 is an excellent wifi 6 router. I was considering getting a 2nd hand unit to mesh with it to cover my whole house properly. I have not been keeping up with the networking area for a long time as I was kind of disappointed from my WiFi 5 (Asus AC66U) to WIFI 6 (Linksys MX4200), brought me no uplift to WiFi experience. I only started to research as my Broadband contract is going to due and thanks to the sharing on this site, gotten a good deal for a recontract and also the router. I would say in the good old days of WiFi 5, this router is definitely in the $300+ region and now you can get it for just $192 from starhub, $8 a month really good deal.

I am always in the money mind and sub forums. Just did another reno last year but didn't join any discussion this time round.

710 @192 supposed to be for SH subscriber only. Non subscriber considered lucky if they can buy new at that price.

I’d seen claims though, that people literally walked into a Starhub shop and bought their router without having to show that they are Starhub subscriber.

My laptop with a 7 year old processor couldn't even do more than 200mbps with a wired connection. Now that I come to think of it, these 5gbps/10gbps are really too much bandwidth for most people to make use of. I think I just need 1-2gbps, i will see whether 5gbps make a difference after I get my ONT.

For new signups, are there two appointment dates (NLT+Starhub) or just one? I remember selecting two dates when ordering online but in the order confirmation there’s only the later date (Starhub installation). Chat with SH CSO on Whatsapp, they also said they only see the SH appointment date on their end.
