Just bought EB810V from starhub shop. Didnt know the box is so huge! And the router is also quite big, but luckily still can fit in my DB Box. For those who bought from shop, better to bring big ikea bag cos the starhub shop dont have so big bag for the router! I have to hand carry back home. Luckily the box is not heavy, just bulky.

can just walk in to buy?

Which outlets sell? We ended up putting down only 1 HB710 in the order, when we asked Starhub lady whether can still add EB810V to the order she tell us just go to the outlet to buy :o
I bought mine from serangoon NEX starhub shop. Selina cant add both eb810v + hb710 due to system restrict. So she also ask me go shop buy.

EB810v has built-in SpeedTest function which can check your WAN speed. You should get about 4.5Gbps or higher.

Always check wired connection before troubleshooting wireless issues.

EB810v has built-in SpeedTest function which can check your WAN speed. You should get about 4.5Gbps or higher.

If not, then you need to check the connection between the ONT and EB810v. Plug and Unplug the cable and try again. Or change another cable.

If you are sure the cable is okay yet you still get very slow WAN speed from EB810v, then it may be Nokia XS-240X-A ONT problem or the Fibre Cable problem. You should ask Starhub to have a visit then.

Tried the built-in speedtest: The speed is a joke: Its about the same snail speed im getting.

I even changed the lan from the SH Cat 6 cable to my own Cat 8 cable. Still the same.

The CS called again and their answer is "Switch on and off the two devices" which is exactly the same as the previous CS call as well...

This promo is a money grab.....give you good speed on the first few days and the speed just falls over the cliff afterwards....Only solution: "Switch on and off"

I understand the frustrations. The services by Starhub support staff are not good in this case.

You should show them the screenshot and ask them to come down, since the issue is with Starhub issued equipment (ONT or EB810v router). I suspect the Nokia XS-204X-A ONT or the Fibre cable got issues. There are already multiple reports about the issue.

To rule out EB810v issue, connect a computer with a 2.5G adapter (or better ones if you have), then check the speeed which should be greater than 2Gbps. If not, then the ONT (or the Fibre cable) is the problem.

Your issue just says that Starhub service is not that good, which is kind of known.

But the promotion itself is good and most of other users do not have issues.

try what Xiaofan suggests: "To rule out EB810v issue, connect a computer with a 2.5G adapter (or better ones if you have), then check the speeed which should be greater than 2Gbps. If not, then the ONT (or the Fibre cable) is the problem."

What Xiaofan is suggesting is that you connect your computer to the ONT as directly as possible. Don't involve the EB810V. So just try something like ONT -> USB-C 2.5Gbps or 5Gbps Ethernet dongle -> your computer. do the speedtest like that.

Furthermore, something that came up in my case was that my choice of firewall and antivirus software was throttling the speed. Are you using any internet security suite software?

Hi all,

I’m looking to optimise my internet speed and would like to seek for your advice.

Currently on 5Gbps ONT plan, with TP-Link Deco BE65 (3-pack) setup capped at 2.5Gbps, and currently using iPhone 16 Pro Max for speed test.

Main router at DB box, APs at Bedroom 3 and Master bedroom, phone currently connected to Master bedroom AP.

I’m seeing different speed test result from Deco app (2.35Gbps↑ and 2.35Gbps↓) and Speedtest app (996Mbs↑ and 682Mbps↓).

- the speed shown in Deco app, is it referring to local speed?
- I have enabled MLO on Deco app, and also allow the app to auto optimise the channels (channel 3, 48, 85 on 2.4Ghz, 5Ghz, and 6Ghz respectively). all using the same SSID name. Can you direct me to better understand Channels and choosing the optimal channel?
- anything else I should tweak to get higher Wi-Fi speed?

Thanks in advance!

1) Deco App --> WAN speed, the speed from the main Deco router to the internet, 2.35Gbps is the right speed since Deco BE65 has 2.5G WAN

2) SpeedTest --> wireless speed of your iPhone 16 Pro Max

3) Check if you enable 160MHz channel bandwidth for your 5GHz band and 6GHz band (iPhone 16 Pro Max does not support 320MHz channel bandwidth on the 6GHz band). Then test using the different SSIDs, for example, the 6GHz SSID, main SSID, MLO SSID to see the speed.

By right you can get >1Gbps speed with iPhone 16 Pro Max, usually around 1.4Gbps to 1.6Gbps max when using SpeedTest for iPhone 16 series.

The setting of 160 MHz, is this something the Starhub installation guy will do if I ask him to ? My new router HB710

If set to 160 MHz, will it affect other devices not on wifi 6 or 7 ?

You can try to ask the installation guy to see if he is willing to help.

But it is quite simple to set it up by yourself.

My wireless settings for your reference.

You may want to change 5GHz band and 6GHz band Channel Selection to "Auto". I use a specific channel based on my situation. I like to use CH60 (DFS) channel for the 5GHz band. For 6GHz band, I actually have not tried to see if the channel selection makes a difference or not.

I decided to disable Band Steering in my case --> if not somehow my laptop with Intel AX201 WiFI 6 adapter often connects to the 2.4GHz band.

Enable 160MHz channel bandwidth do not affect other devices not on wifi 6 or 7, since it will drop to lower channel bandwidth automatically. However, if you encounter issues, you may have to use Guest Network with legacy WiFi 4 and WiFi 5 clients. It is usually not related to the 160MHz channel bandwidth, but rather because of the "Mode" settings. Some legacy clients do not work when AX or BE mode are used.

Some experts prefer to use 80MHz channel bandwidth for 5GHz band to avoid interferences from neighbours. In the enterprise 40MHz channel bandwidth may be used (slower speed but better reliability).

Similarly I enable 320MHz channel bandwidth for the 6GHz band to achive higher SpeedTest numbers (not very useful in practice, just for fun) but some experts prefer to set it as 160MHz because it is not easy to achieve 320MHz channel bandwidth in Singapore other than at close distance, since 6GHz-2 band is not approved yet for WiFi use in SIngapore.

@xiaofan Think you are making some Tplink support staff go out of a job :ROFLMAO:

Haha, not really. I have not used TP-Link router for quite some time -- previously I used Deco M4 for a while but it was not good for my use case.

I tend to like Asus router better than TP-Link but 10G capable Asus WiFi 7 routers (with 6GHz band) are just too expensive as of now (with the exception of Asus ZenWiFi BT10 dumped by M1 users). My budget for a single router is usually up to S$400 only (same as my budget for an Android phone).

So I have got one HB710 from Starhub at S$192. I am also getting TP-Link Archer BE805 from an M1 user for S$300. Initially I wanted to get the EB810v as well from Starhub at S$360 now that I will get Starhub 5Gbps late February 2025, but decided to go with Archer BE805 instead. Archer BE800 or GE800 may be even better but they are above my budget as of now.

I think TP-Link Community Forum is not bad with quite some interesting info from TP-Link Staff. But they may not be familiar with service provider models like HB710 or EB810v.

https://community.tp-link.com/en/home/forum/39 (for Deco)

May I check if the ONT has a SFP+ port? Or is it a RJ45 10G port?

All the ISPs' ONT/ONR have one 10G RJ45 LAN port and no SFP+ port.

Only exception is VQ which provides the option to top up S$99 to get OptiXstar S800E SFP+ ONU module which can be plugged into the SFP+ of your router if your router has SFP+ WAN port.
