Got it, thanks so much this was exactly what I was trying to confirm.
Not a power user by any means and not particularly savvy but was thinking there might be some settings pre-configed for Singtel issued routers.

Wondering if there's any suggestions for 5Gbps router for a typical 4 room HDB setup with long corridor to 3 rooms layout, or will mesh be a must?
Previous experiences led me to mesh, cause I was also not sure if investing in a higher priced router would help with signal strength when router is placed in living room but trying to cover up to master bedroom at end of corridor.

mine is 4 room bto and also 3 rooms with long corridor. Juz place 1 x EB810v in DB box and 1 x HB710 wired backhaul and the network coverage will cover whole house.

There is a new plan from Starhub --> 3Gbps with HB410 at S$39.91 per month, with HB410 (dual 2.5G ports, dual band WiFi 7 BE6500).

I do not think it is worth considering this offer since you can get the S$29.55 per month 5Gbps offer ONT option and then add the better HB710 (dual 10G ports triband WiFi 7 BE18000) at S$8 per month (or S$192 cash and carry) --> effective price at S$37.55 per month with a much better WiFi 7 router.

Surprised SH didn't offer this to those with legacy plan but instead they offered the 5gbs plan for "same" price.

Thanks for sharing.
My current setup with Singtel ONT is having 2x RT5703W, but 1 at living room TV console and 1 in middle common room (both wired backhaul, so in the DB box only ONT is there).

Is there a difference in not having EB810v directly connected to ONT?
I am guessing that depends on my wired backhaul specs? Since I'm not sure of the cable grade used for backhaul done up by previous owner.
However for direct connection between ONT to router I can ensure it will be Cat 6 and up, so that at least I know my EB810v is not capped at 1gbps in case it's cat5e or down.

Not recommended but they should work.

EB810v, HB710 and HB410 are TP-Link Service Provider models, kind of tied to Starhub. There are reports that people out of Starhub network can get FW updates but they are still meant for Starhub users. For you this is not a problem since worst case you can bring back to Starhub network to upgrade the FW.

I tend to think the risk is very low but technically Starhub can also upgrade the FW to make it not compatible with other ISPs. I do not think this will happen though.

Alternative solution is TP-Link Archer BE805 (I got one unit from M1 user at S$300, similar pricing in Carousell) plus Archer BE230 (less than S$100 BNIB from Carousell, from M1 users) mesh, they are consumer models.

They did. There were previous reports of 3Gbps recontract offer for legacy plan users.

Now the new offer is better. I was using the 500Mbps plan out of contract since Sept 2020 and I was offered the S$30.37 per month 5Gbps recontract offer recently (installation to be on 22 Feb 2025). I chose to go with the ONT option (both ONT and ONR option are available but the default seems to be the ONR option if you do not ask).

Previously I was lazy to sign up the S$29.55 per month 5Gbps offer since I needed to sign up as a new user.

how come they dont offer ONR with 1 nokia beacon for 30.37 anymore? OOS?

Have you talked to them? By right if you get the S$30.37 per month 5Gbps recontract offer, you can select either ONT option or the ONR option. In fact I believe the default is ONR option since I needed to mention that I wanted the ONT option to the salesperson.

Starhub got tons of Nokia XS-2426X-A ONR and Nokia Beacon 2. So it cannot be out of stock.

Sorry if this has been asked before.

My installation on 22nd and planning to get hb710.

My current confiq is as below and if I wanna keep it as such will it work?

Ont > main router > lan into masterbed room router via db lan port (main and room router same ssid)

Saw that the hb710 has a 10gb lan port behind and i don't intent to change the room router cos I only use for phone browsing in mbr. Hope to just changed main router into hb710 and have everything to work as it is.

It should work but the wifi speed will depend on the router you are connected to. It also depend on your wifi client.

PS if this is not correct place to post.
But I have facing this netflix issue in my new home.

Subscribed to 5gb plan recently and netflix thinks I’m using VPN. Cannot access some of the shows. Anyone has any solutions?

i using EB810v at DB Box there with ONT so that i can make use of the extra lan port cos i have other devices that can connect via wired backhaul in the other rooms. if you no need so many lan port then mayb no need.

Hi Xiaofan,

Below is my floor plan.

Layout.jpg

Currently, i'm using 3 x Deco M9 Plus. One is inside my DB Box with my ONT, 1 is at living room lan port, and 1 is at bedroom 2 lan port. Coverage wise, every part of the house is covered including toilets.

However, i'm wondering if it's possible to have only 2 router? 1 at living room lan port and 1 at bedroom 2 lan port? If so, how do i connect the main router (living room lan port) to the ONT which is at the DB box?

Any help here is greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

TP-Link HB710 and EB810v are TP-Link Service Provider models (basically mainly for ISPs) and they will not be avaialble from typical retail channels. They may lack a bit of features compared to the consumer models (eg: no Wireguard VPN feature) and will often be a bit slow in bug fixes or feaure enhancement (probaly because businesses are more conservative than consumers). But then the price will be lower.

TP-Link HB710 at S$192 is of superb value. EB810v at S$360 is also fair for those who want something better than HB710 (faster CPU, better wireless coverage, 2.5Gbps LAN ports).

You may want to post your floor plan (with details like location of the ONT and LAN ports in the rooms) to see whether it is better to go with EB810v + HB710, HB710 x 2 or EB810v x 2. It may mainly depend on your requirement for wired devices.
