My place is not 3gbps ready but I received the promotion email to recontract 6gbps at $32.90 with free BE805. Anyone like me?

Read HWZ Forum Rules!
I bite the bullet and sign up even though I keep checking my place not ready for 3gbps. Anyway, my ONT appt is next week friday. If the m1 technician come and mention my place not ready, think I will just bang table and complain.

I suspect those of us who receive the email on 22 Jan means our place should be ready for 3gbps.

Choose 1 for free:
  • TP-Link Archer BE805 (worth $799)
  • ASUS ZenWiFi BT10 (Pack of 2, worth $1,299)
So regardless of which one you chose its free? Why would one get BE805 though? Even if you have own router, surely BT10 resale price is higher?

Yes, that is correct, nobody should really choose the TP-Link Archer BE805 for the M1 10Gbps plan.

If the user likes TP-Link Archer BE805 very much, they can always sell the two Asus ZenWiFi BT10 (say for S$720) and then buy the Archer BE805 (say for S$300).

How did you check? Did you log in your M1 account and go through the sign-uo process to check?

Or you use the link to check --> the link is only for new users, not for existing users. I suspect M1 has limited deployment for certain places and they do not open that for new users but will open for existing users.

From M1 sign-up page:
For new sign-ups, click here to see if your location is eligible.
For re-contracting customers, log in and proceed to the next step to check your location’s eligibility.

BTW, in general, no point to get 10Gbps since 6Gbps is of much better value, even if you top up S$12 per month for the pair of Asus ZenWiFi BT10.

New user --> with a pair of Asus ZenWiFi BT10.
S$46.90 per month for M1 6Gbps
S$55.90 per month for M1 10Gbps

You pay S$9 per month for just get a bit of speed bump, totally not worth the money.

Where did u port to? sh?
My parent's place re-contracted ST 5Gbps ONR!!!

My place, SH 5Gbps ONT. But after yesterday's news of SH disruption...a bit worried.

I have this feeling SH do not maintain their equipment regularly, resulting in the disruption. M1 seems to maintain their equipment regularly. Maybe just my misconception.

When I signup, I ignore the link to check if my place is ready for 3gbps and straightaway select "existing customer type" and "recontract", then login to m1 ID and select the router and ONT appt date, apply the promo code and checkout.

Anyway, take note of your contract having the following terms before you proceed to pay $0.

If you just talk about stability, Singtel is still arguably the best. M1 and Starhub should be quite similar based on the past track records.

Anyway, M1 6Gbps offer for new user indeed beats the best offer among Starhub/Singtel/M1. But it always depends on the timing. I am paying S$49.90 per month for my Singtel 5Gbps plan (August 2024). Now I upgrade my Starhub 500Mbps plan to the S$30.37 per month 5Gbps recontract offer.

1) M1 6Gbps new user offer at S$34.90 per month with free Archer BE805.

2) Singtel 5Gbps recontract offer at S$29.90 per month with a lousy router (but you seem to get HB611-SGST).

3) Starhub 5Gbps new user offer at S$29.55 per month and S$30.37 per month for recontract user. For ONT option, it is with no router or a lousy router. Need to top up S$192 for HB710 or S$360 for EB810v. For ONR option, it comes with the ONR (AX6000) and Nokia Beacon 2 (lousy router, AX1800).

But your Starhub 5gbps installed already? If you still prefer M1 stability, if your starhub not up yet, maybe try telling starhub to cancel since not installed yet. I remember in that thread, many tried to cancel after they received m1 recontract offer .

Yup. Regardless of what you chose, it's free.

Why would one get BE805? Most likely is because there are lots of BT10 on carousell and it will be tough to offload the twin BT10.

The other unlikely reason is probably is either brand preference. Most people prefer Asus over TpLink. But I think there will be small amount of people likes TpLink

Do new users really get the BT10 for free? That is really awesome if it comes free with the 6Gbps plan.

However, I think it is only for the 10Gbps plan.

The above discussion is for 10Gbps plan and in reality most users will get the two Asus ZenWiFi BT10 and not Archer BE805.

For 6Gbps plan, S$12 per month top up is needed to change from Archer BE805 to a pair of Asus ZemWiFi BT10. In any case, it is still of much better value than the 10Gbps plan, even with the S$12 per month top-up.

if you are able to sign up successfully, you have already passed their check for readiness. Shouldn't be a problem.

Most likely you are reading the cache version of the website, try deleting cookie and cache from m1 website and try again

Anyway, contacted them via Chat With Us this morning about the readiness.
took the CSO about 40mins to do some checking and come back to me.

"After further checking, your address is eligible for a 6Gbps recontract, but it is not ready for any new service sign-ups"

Good for recontract, but not for new sign-up?? Strange.....

As mentioned earlier, my hypothesis is that M1 has limited deployment in certain areas, so they only offer to existing recontract users and not to new users. That is why they actually ask existing users to log in to check and not click the link to check the availability of XGS-PON based plans.

I tend to believe M1 will finish the deployment of XGS-PON based plans by the end of June 2025.

Reason is because of the following note.

Note: If you plan to move your address by June 2025, we recommend signing up for our 1Gbps or 2.5Gbps plans.

Yup, SH installed and running since Dec 24.

No choice, wait 2 years and see how stable it is. Hopefully not much issue.

After 2 years see M1 offer. But I see M1 now follow SingTel. After contract ends, price goes up. Haiz.

2 or 4 years ago, i remember m1 switched its promo, from a different price after the contract ended to the same price after the contract ended and back to the same.

i think it has to be done with the subsidy given to the ISP to upgrade the network by IMDA. Initial, not so much subsidy, hence need to implement full price after contract ends. Then as the technology mature and more people onboard and the price stabilise, they will start offering the lower price even after the contract ends.

Same goes to mobile, last time we were charged for 4G VAS, when technology matures and becomes more accessible, they will remove the charge. Same story goes for 5G VAS now for some telcos.

But it's okay la, just set a reminder on my calender to contract 21 months later

Huh. Turns out going thru the whole process M1 is indeed keeping the higher bandwidth for recontracts. ;)

The readyness check is a lie...
