[Remember?] Lee Hsien Loong: “Mr Lee made it very clear throughout his life that he did not need and did not want any monument,”

It strongly harms SG image of rule of law if LKY's will is not executed accordingly.
That's why there was such a hoohaa attacking the will's contents and direction, trying to cast aspersions on the people involved in drafting, finalising, witnessing the will.

Because if you can not follow the law on a basic thing such as a man's private will, what other laws will you arbitrarily not follow?

LKY's legacy is already everywhere. He lives on in his powerful and influential children and grandchildren, as well as assorted relatives and friends.
His $1 coin design is still being used today. Many of us have the commemorative LKY coins, and even voluntarily bought more copies of it.
Many other countries openly talk about wanting to have a legacy like LKY and praising Singapore as his successful creation.
Some Sparkletots already implemented a daily routine of making the kids bow to a photo of LKY. (Has it been discontinued?)
Many have copies of LKY's books and memoirs, committing entire statements, paragraphs and chapters to heart. Words like "cul de sac", "hatchet", statements like "maids in other countries", linger on in public discourse.

During the Michael Fay incident, LKY (already SM at the time) was quoted as saying "that the US was neither safe nor peaceful because it did not dare to restrain or punish those who did wrong, adding, "If you like it this way, that is your problem. But, that is not the path we choose."
And when foreigners ask us why chewing gum is banned, we can simultaneously suan the older gens' lack of social graces and praise LKY at the same time.

Then 200years from now, how to learn about the history, challenges and progress that made Singapore modern?

So yup, the monument, museums are the usual ways … for learners home and abroad.

Nobody listens to him after he was no longer in power...

1. He wants a quick death... signed an AMD... but was shafted a tube into his throat to keep him alive...
2. He wants his house demolished... but now his house was slated to be gazetted...
3. He doesn't want a casino... We built 2...
4. He doesn't want a monument... We build Founders Memorial...

And this is how we honour him... by dishonouring his last wishes... ironic...

We got more bread and butter issues to worry about like COL and retrenchments and they are more interested in a dead man’s house :s11:
